Which thickness Head Gasket

So last time I looked I saw that cometic had two different thickness head gaskets. I believe a .030 and a .074 (or something ilke that) I believe factory is .046. They call one for NA and the other Boosted, respectively.

My question is, " If I am running 9:1 pistons, how much would the thinner gasket actually raise compression?" I am boosting my LD9 and I don't want to lower my compression any more than 9:1, I would prefer 9.3-9.5.

This is another question kinda off topic, "When running the 'secret cam' swap, if you were to use the .410" lift cam would you end up bending valves? has anyone done this?"

thanks guys, just a couple questions my build starts in about 9 days, when the turbocharder and balanced crank, pistons, and rods get back.

Yes, the thinner gasket would slightly raise your compression, thicker would slightly lower it.

I don't think you would bend the valves, the problem is that you would need to have the magnetic pickup machined into the cam, and the hex drive machined on.

yah, I have the 1995 intake cam, but I was concerned about the exhaust cam sahft, maybe I'll just use a mic. to measure it when I get home again.

do these older cams fit into a 2000 housing? I've been searching and if I missed it sorry, but kinda curious, as I don't have the lifters for one of my older housings.

^^ that is kinda what I was thinking, I will order one today, I really don't want to use the factory one with boost.

So thats the N/A gasket. Since your boosted how come you didn't use the boosted gasket? Did you not want to go lower than 9:1 or something?

yah, any lower than 9:1 is too low IMO, just need to tune it a little better

Anyone know if they'll still work with a .40" overbore?

You can't do .410 lift cams without boring the housings to accept the 2.3 35mm lifters. The lobes will smack the sides of the 33mm bore.

thanks Mr.Pute, I am going to measure when I get home, I have both housings but I really would like to just use my factory ones, I guess if I got the 0.410" lift, I will have to find a different cam,

Oh yah, if you use the 0.410 lift cam will I bend valves? or are those clearances good?
