so i got my t3/t4 intercooled kit all on an started it up... runs an idles perfect, even took it for a ride with jus open downpipe and at 5psi i couldnt believe the torque gain over my gm s/c setup..

anywho- my real problem is that when i first started the car an let it idle, my digital odometer comes up like it always does, but then it shut off and it read "Error" where the mileage usualy reads.. an it also have a service lite wit the little wrench below it.. no CEL's jus those two issues.. any ideas guys?

I have had the same problem for a year or so ........................ sits at 100657km.... then goes to error............with service light on.............

that was before I relocated my battery to the trunk.....

I relocated and the problem persists.....

a bad ground you say ........... I'll also try that out ..... I wonder if that will fix the problem .....

how do I know if I have a bad ground .................

thanks

try plugging in a scan tool in. If it doesnt connect to the car, then it is a short in one of the class 2 data wires (Purple). I had this same problem and it was a short in that wire under the radiator going to the pcm.

we ran the snap on scanner on my car ...... because it was having idling problems....... (when I relocated the 02 sensor closer to the turbo)...... I just kept resetting the pcm (by disconnecting the battery) and that problem went away......

long story short..... no shop knows whats wrong with it ..... all my sensors in data mode read responsively and accurately....... we were watching pulse width and all.......... it's not a short.....

and I just thought of something .... it couldn't have been a BAD ground .... I had a 9 point grounding kit that was in series running across the engine bay and connected to the battery...... all before turbo .... and all before the relocation ....

anyone else ??????

this problem I've been living with for over a year...... doesn't affect anything major.... as far as I can tell......... but trying to sell this car at a later time will be nearly impossible.... with the odometer reading error..... I'd love to fix it ............. but I don't want to spend $95.00 an hour at GM and I don't trust those guys as far as I could throw them..... especially now that I am turbocharged.......

can anyone say test drive ??

I don't think so ...................

.... help me out ...

I had a similar issue on a stock eco. GM reflashed my PCM under warranty :/

Does your radio also turn off when this happens?

not it happens everytime we start the car .... reads the odometer reading (from like a year ago) and then goes to error.... the service light is on....... my "boss" thinks it has to do with a ground behind the dash ....... something along those lines........

the PCM has an RSM reflash but this problem was there BEFORE I got the reflash .......

I just found this out.......

but I also found out that the 2000's had a problem with the clusters..... and it's 99% the cluster that is F'ed up .......

so I'm going to try that next.....

Thats good that you could narrow it down to the BCM using the Tech 2 -

- I had one last week to play with but I didnt find any BCM codes stored -

My current issue is my whole cluster does some crazy stuff while driving. The thing will Reset itself while Im driving - throwing all of the lights on and then they turn off 2 seconds later - happens under all conditions once the engine is warm. The speedo drops to 0, the temp gauge drops to 0, ect - then goes back - I'm wondering if its a bad ground to my battery in the trunk....

I want to look for that purple Class 2 data wire too. My Aeroforce scan gauge will shut off sometimes while the gauge cluster thing is happening.

Have anything tapped off the ign. module? Mine did what you describe today after tapping my alky injection off the ignition module. I already had 2 other things tapped there, but with the alky kit on it did this, then once off I haven't got it to repeat itself again. So I'm thinking that's my problem right now.

Ground. Almost 100% guaranteed to be your problem.

I tried the BCM swap, didn't cure the problem. Was a bad ground.

My car was doing the exact same thing as Black's, it even got worse to the point that the radio randomly locked itself, and then the final straw was when the theft-lock system wouldn't let me start my own damn car!!

My problem was right at the battery tray, where the battery negative cable connects. The other problem spot is the main chassis ground (I'm pretty sure that's what the trim guy at work said it was called), but I'll be damned if I can remember where it is!

Low and behold - I could wiggle the battery cable connections by hand - they loosened up so much that they must have been moving around when hitting uneven sections of road. I used a Summit Racing battery relocation kit and the crummy post clamps are junk. I need new ones. Any recommendations? Gold plated? Any Specific Brand?

Thanks!

my ground at the battery tray was bad and this fried a started and make my cluster go nuts! I replaced the ground and all is now good.

yes I relocated my battery to the trunk and thats when the problems started..

It took me a while to figure out that the ground was bad!
