Well I know many of you have had this problem and have been discussing what it could be. Some like myself said it had something to do with the primary o2 in the header........
So yesterday I decided to hook up my scantool, and unplug the o2.......
Results w/ 02 hooked up: @!#$ty idle....14.5-15.5 a/f, chugging, and hesitation at cold start
Results with o2 disconnected: Great idle.....13.8-14.1 a/f, no chugging......and no hesitation at cold start up....
It took all day before the cel came on for it and when it did I just cleared it with my scan tool........
So basically what I'm saying is disconnecting the 1st o2 made my idle a lot better, made me run lower a/f's at idle and WOT, and I have no hesitation to where the car is ready to shut off at cold start.........
I was thinking of just leaving it disconnected all the time....clear the code when it pops up and adjust my fuel so I dont run so rich at wot and normal driving around...
What do u all think? Thanks

or you could just replace what appears to be a faulty O2 sensor. Would be the smart thing to do.
I used to race cars, now I race myself.

Already did that....its a new sensor......That would be just too easy lol

i still think what you did is throw the car into limp mode so its just running on a basic program and running rich.

while my car bogs on immediate start up if i try to drive to fast, it only lasts for a block then its normal throttle as requested. i used a scan tool on my system to see where everything was at after the instal and it was bang on. my idle is excellent from first cold start to fully warmed up. do you run a MSD DISII ginition??
ac delco sensor or a crappy bosch one?
Interesting topic. I read the old one you had going on this. There was another guy talking about this as well. Question with the sensor hooked up have you watched to see if when the car acts up when switching from open loop to closed loop? If this is the case from the other post that guy might be right about the O2 sensor not being warm enough when it switches. Hopefully he will post in this topic as well. Sounds like you guys have a good start on fixing this issue. I hope so I have this problem. I have also put in anew sensor. AC/Delco one.
It's a delco sensor I have in there now...

lol leaving ur 02 unhooked and clearing the code everytime... wow. how ghetto is that.
Yea I said "thinking" not doing it for sure.....I would rather fix the problem rather than do that...

On cold start up your O2 is not even being used to meter fuel so I don't see how it could cause your problem.
I had that problem with the stock sensor... it seems the sensor wasn't heated up in time when I went into open loop and the fan turned on and she ran like garbage until the sensor was warm enough....
What I ended up doing was installing a 4 wire heated 02 sensor... it made the problem a LOT better, not quite gone but almost..... if I just wait a minute at startup and let the sensor heat up in 30 seconds and idle, she's good to go.
This is my experience, anyway.
Good luck.

I am considering a primary heated O2 sensor in my following mods.

ELIOT. Now.....boosted.
I have never had a cold start problem with my cavy, though I will say until it reaches running temps it runs shiity. I believe the reason for this is where it runs in loop mode to warm the car up quicker, but once it reaches normal temps its fine from there.
