Does anyone know if the GM s/c kit would work on a "99 if you used a 2000+ ECU? and of course the other few custom mods...Has anyone out there done it? Or even better...does a 3800 series s/c fit on a 2.4L motor?

The s/c won't fit without a good amount of custom work. NJHK already gave you the answer to the 00+ ECU and other parts.
Also, you could have posted this in your original thread about supercharging your 99 J. Just a friendly tip for next time to save some bandwidth.
Blown.
It isnt hard to boost your pre 99 without the computer, get a 2K starter, 320 injectors, egr block off and sensor, adj FPR and you should be set. Its been done before I think...

No.
wrong
it DOES fit... there were 2-3 people who had the M90 on there 2.4 but had to modify their radiator support a little bit...
One of the guys name was Vincent Coaxley I think or something like that.. maybe I am wrongabout the name.. he had a black z24 with full msd ignition and this HUGE charger on the front... all black, black wheels but had red and white interior I think, it has been quite some time, easily over a year...

I think what Adam meant was simply plug-n-play, and he's right, it isn't. Keyword in your sentence, Phil, "mod". Not trying to put you down, QBE, just clarifying some things.

Phil your right, I think its Vincent something, can't remember his last name either. I saw him run at the 02 or 03 bash.. Car was pretty fast.

its nothing extensive.. you need to cut the front cross member like a inch or 2 for the length of the housing which can be done with a dremel or swazall...

The charger itself will bolt right onto the onto the intake mani and tb?

Filip (The Polish Kid) wrote:The charger itself will bolt right onto the onto the intake mani and tb?
yes as far as I know...
all I remember him posting in the how to was that he needed to notch the cross member or whatever that piece is that goes across where the support bolts too..

That doesn't seem too bad. I wonder how efficient the charger is on the 2.4 engine.
Either way, Trey (no offense), the author, is a newbie and it just seems to me that he should avoid cutting cross members or anything else on the car until doing more research.

If someone asks if something fits, in my head that means that they can "slap it right on" and not have to modify anything to make it fit.

then basically anything ever made doesnt fit... because in all actuality everything needs a little modification to fit, no?

Alright gentlemen, let's keep this civil, I can already see where this may go. Adam is right though and its an important point to make - too many people think that they can 'slap it on' without modifying something and then get themselves into a mess they can't clean up. Installing an s/c kit on a car isn't that simple, let alone cutting a cross member to fit an s/c that wasn't initially meant for the engine. Can we all agree on this?

I do....
but then again it was civil just a gentlemanly discussion

Nope. If you have a size 9 foot and you ask for a size 9 shoe, there is no modification to make it fit on your foot.

People say that what doesn't kill you in this life
will make you stronger. I'm not sure if that is true
or not, but i do know one thing-You have to learn from
it and it has to make you better.......it has to.......
the install for the GM sold supercharger requires no modification outside what the instructions tell you. its very straight forward. putting it onto a 99 is very easy also. starter doesn't have to be replaced.

I see you have done this. I have read that the '99 cavs don't need the starter changed to the '00+. Is this what you are saying? This is something I would love to do. Might be awhile for the funds but I figured I would get a leg up on the research end of it. Also, if you or anyone knows...is the Cobalt supercharger the same as the one that comes with the GM kit? Saw one really cheap online. If not the same one..is it a pretty easy bolt on?
the Cobalt one is designed for the Eco motor not for the LD9. don't think it will bolt to the 2.4 head. yes i did the S/C on my 99. yes the 99 starter works. my car was changed over to the brains and wiring of a 00+ so flashing was easilly done and such. i've read that the 99 can be re-flashed which ,if that is the case, your laughing. it then becomes a complete bolt on affair.
Stat might need to be changed, but from what I was told it is worth changed because of weight. 18.2lbs for a pre 00 and 8.2lbs for a 2000+. Nice weight difference.
