Hey everyone, long time since I've had to post about a car problem, which has been a good thing, though I've had a fair, and far to many as of late.. some of you guys know me, some don't. I have a 96 Z-24 5psd, with a ton of mods done to it (all listed in registery, please check before posting) As you know Jtuners.Com offers a pretty wickid turbo application for our non-egr based cars, and is now offering them for EGR based engines. I think I was the first to order this kit for a EGC equiped engine, due to that, Jtuners.Com and I have had a mass amount of fun changing little things to tweak and mod this unit to work with cars.
What I choose, was 320cc injectors, knowing stock I beleive 252cc. The reason behind that, was as I've known owning a prior turbo talon, when you have a turbo, be it a stock, or adding they require more fuel. By adding the injectors them self with my application, the car would run way to hella rich, that was a problem. Jtuners.Com's owner Leo (a great person btw) highly recomended something they've been using and testing, a unit called Split Sec (alot of you guys know this unit already) so after installing the split sec and taping into my MAP sensor, we had several issues, rough idle, running too rich still even after pulling back the fuel trim tables to almost a lean mixture. Or the car would start, sputter a little black water \ oil type stuff out of the tail pipe, and after several mins of idling like a big block engine it'd finaly relax and be able to be driven, then after wards within a matter of min's it want to stall and I'd have to feather the gas like mad until I could even out the rpm's enough to where it'd be ok at idle, then I could drive it decently. Now note, I do live in Prescott Valley AZ, alt if about 5000 ft.
Right, now I've removed the splitsec box from my ECM, and the car starts, idles, and dirves great until I hit about 5-7psi on my boost gague then the car either remains in yellow\stoich or goes lean pretty crazy. What I'm hoping for, is anyone here on the org that has used this unit, or can recommend me something.
Some info I need, what is the max injector size we can use on a stock ECM that the computer can handle with out throwing error codes?
Splitsec was also causing some misfires codes, and low voltage code errors.
If you do use a split sec unit, what injectors are you using? My turbo is peaking at about 10-11 psi, even though it was suppose to have been set at 5 from Garret, (thank god my engine was pre-planned to handle this or else I'd be on another thread)
Hopefully someone can give me some good feeback, heck if you can call me I'll be happy to talk some ideas. I've been beating my self into the ground, spending money I don't have anymore trying to fine tune this thing. So far this has helped me buy a new tranny due to my flywheel cracking on me (good design on that flywheel, you know who you are -.- but thank you for replacing it for me), head gasket, that was a good one on our engines as you guys know! lol. thank you!

not sure on the split sec thing, but have u tryed or do u have a afpr, adjustable fuel pressure regulator, i know this is a must when dealing with bigger injectors getting them to run properly at idle, a safc is a great idea to have too
I don't have a FPR, due to the split sec having its on built in 4bar map sensor, its supposed to be able to regulte the injectors and control everything, kinda like an add on for the computer... maybe I'm wrong though, thats how it was explained to me when I bought it.
not sure wut that does, but i know many peeps who jus did a fmu and afpr had great success, hopefully someone with more knowledge on the split sec can help here
