I am looking to put a GM supercharger on my 1999 Cavalier Z24. What exactly will I have to do to make this work? I have already searched, and haven't found information that always correlates. I do NOT have an EGR on my car. I know that I need a '00-'02 starter. So here is what I have questions about:
-Do I need a reflash and if so, can I do a reflash on my '99? Some say you can, some say you can't, and some say you have to swap in a computer from a '00-'02. What's the scoop on this?
-Do I need bigger injectors? Some say you do, yet others claim to be running on their stock injectors.
-What do I need as far as fuel management goes? Any recommendations here?
-Anything else that I am forgetting?
Also, the charger I am getting appears to be only the charger. It is not the kit or anything. What parts are missing that I would absolutely need for the install? Here is a pic of the charger and everything on it:

well......I've got the s/c on my 99...
#1 I already had the starter that you need and I was able to use the injectors that come w/ the kit.
#2 as far as management I got an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, cartech fmu, and walbro pump and have no problems
#3 Also you might want to consider alky injection to kill the heatsoak that comes with the charger.
As far as I know you Can't reflash your 99......
And if thats all you get is the charger....then.....there is quite a few piece you would need.....Search for a post by StyleZ24 he bought jsut the charger and in there some guys I believe said how much all the other stuff was..............
Car is for Sale!Supercharger kit is for sale!
I also have a 99. It's automatic.
I had the 00+ starter (smaller one.)
I had no EGR.
I had the correct injectors 00+, and was also able to use the injectors that came with the kit.
I reflashed my 99 PCM to a 2000 automatic. It accepted the supercharger reflash.
Although I do have a few lights on the dash board on...plus my RPM's dont work, as well as the engine temp gauge.

i have a 99 automatic. the 99 comes with the right starter. the mad scientist who owned the car before me changed all the wiring and even the dash over to 00+ soo all i had to do was get the ECM flashed and install the kit. you'll love it!!
So if i order the kit from GM, it will come with everything needed to do the swap other than the reflash, right?
if you order it from paceparts.com, yes it will come with everything you need as long as your running the 00+ wiring. its a beautifully put together kit. goes on easy and works great. if your not going to run the 00+ wiring then you'd have to run the FMU and other things as previously mentioned.
Okay, I think I have most everything straightened out. Since I have a '99, I should already have the small starter, so I don't have to worry about that. I don't have EGR, so I shouldn't have to worry about block-off plates or anything like that. Also, if I go with the Cartech FMU, I don't need a reflash, whcih I can't get anyway, correct? As far as I know, this is what I need:
- Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator
- Cartech Fuel Management Unit
- Bigger Injectors
A few questuions regarding those. Since I don't have the injectors that come with the s/c kit, what injectors do I buy? Do I have to get the ones from GM that come in the kit, or can I buy RC ones or something? If so, what size?
As far as the Cartech FMU goes, is there a specific part number for that, or is there one that is just universal?
As far as fuel pump goes, it appears that I can stick with the stock pump. I read that there are at least 3 or more people running the s/c with stock fuel pump.
Thanks again in advance.

Anybody out there have any answers to my last few questions? I just want to get those things answered before I make my purchase. I want to be sure I know what I am getting myself into and how much money I am going to have to spend to get a safe running system.

getting the gm s/c injectors means they will plug into your harness
rc or similar injectors will require cutting and adding new ends for them
im using the stock pump
fmu , get the fully adjustable 1
i'll second that. the GM par # for the injectors is in another new post in this forum, your stock pump should be sufficient. i too am going to get an adjustable rising rate FPR and yeah i'd get the fuly adjustable FMU. i can't supply the part # though as i don't know that.
