mm.. i remember reading some info and trying to dig it up. Getting close to finishing the install of the engine runup kit in my cavy. BUT.. can't remember what kind of alcohol to use with the water. I remember people are using Heed (?). Anyhow, let me know what ur using and what percentage.
thanks!

umm about 60/40
I'm using HEET@60 and distilled water@40
Car is for Sale!Supercharger kit is for sale!
i use 50-60% windsheild washer fluid and the rest pure mythonal... but i have the meth. since my dad uses it in his car and he has 4 or 4 5 big drums of it..
even straight windsheild washer fluid worked good for me.. i was still hitting 10-11psi on boost spikes
The First Twin Charged jbody
blue car (R.I.P) - 240whp @7psi..
silver car - 305whp 315lbs.tq @15psi (91 Octane) or 420whp & 425lbs.TQ @20psi (94 octane+Alcohol Injection)
All dynos run on a Mustang dyno
i used that HEET stuff and distilled water. that heet can be found in 'yellow' bottles basically anywhere and distilled water at a grocerey store.
i think i used a 50heet/50distilled water mix . i heard of tap water clogging up the injector.
what i did for the mixing process was took a milk jug and dumped one thing of heet in, then filled the empty bottle of heet up with water and dumped it in the empty milk jug till it was full.
this year i think i might do the same mixture.
and filling up the tank/ how much you use isnt that much. just check it from time to time. basically all depends on how much you get on the car.
so what nozzle size you got?
also if you want to hook up a LED like i did to tell when your system is on is pretty neat and easy.
it is on the coolingmists's site. i am not sure how the engine run up stuff works.
you get a solonoid with that? i heard them are bad.
my set up has a check vavle, easier wiring and nothing to go wrong. the coolingmist guy says most any problem with a kit is a solonoid gone bad or bad wiring.
So I assume coolingmist doesn't use solenoids?
they do. you have to in a 2nd stage kit.
but he recommends the check vavle.
i got mine mounted to the battery hold down thingy's bolt with some loop clip part i found in our shop. works great. and it is about a foot from the injector. less wiring too i had to do and seems like a fail proof set up.
see where problems that people "claim" with the tps sensor is cuz that solonoid or check valve is mounted too far from the injector. the system stops working and it has to clear out all that fluid that is between the injector and checkvalve/ solonoid. and well if you have it far away there is more fluid. so that in turn slams into the throbttle body plate when you let off the gas and down the shaft it goes into the TPS possiably.
k. Heet is is. What's the % of alcohol thats in it? Would it be the same to use just the methonal that can be bought in an autopart store?
I have an M3 and M5 injectors. I was sent an M5 by accident so greg is sending my an M3 for free. With the 150psi pump, an m3 gives me ~4GPH, which is what i figure i want. Engine run up comes with an electric solenoid, and i will be wiring the light up to so that it goes on when injector is pressurized. The instructions explain to keep the solenoid very close to the injector for similar reason to what ur talking about Jake. I plan to have it within 6-12" for sure. And the pump under my seat (i think it will fit).
Oh, one other thing, whats the make up of heet? how come some guys use windshield fluid and thats ok?
Thanks.

hey man,I'm using 49% methanol,51% water, with the 2.6 ESM set-up with other mods and cooling mist kit.
heet is 99% methonal.
i just picked up a 4 pack of HEET for little under 3$ at menards. sweetness.
i use close to a 45heat/55 distilled water
mm.. up here at the local parts store, heet is 3.xx for 343ml. Theres another generic brand by canadian tires thats methonal (doesn't say how pure) thats 3.xx for a six pack. Anybody canadians use that? Also, whats the difference with using isoproponal mix?

i'm still curious about this.
washer fluid has alcohol in it , which is why it doesnt freeze
depending on the brand or type
I used 100% methanol on my turbo 2.2.
275hp & 306tq - 1999 2.2 ohv
13.2 @ 108 mph
-1996 2.4 liter + Turbo + Built motor + Torco + More boost = Lots o' Power
-2000 Mustang GT + 2004 Cobra motor, Whipple 2.3 supercharger,
built rear-end,Dodge Viper spec T56 6 speed, bolt-ons = wheelies at the track!!!!!
[quote=97cavie24ls(JDM&00s/c sedans™)]washer fluid has alcohol in it , which is why it doesnt freeze
depending on the brand or typei knew that part but doesn't it also have things that might be less than desirable for an internal combustion engine??
alot of people use the -20 windsheild washer fluid. i did for a little bit.
i prefer the HEET/Distilled water method.
Snow Performance sells premixed gallon jugs I believe are 45/55 meth/water mix.
2000 Z24 5spd header & catback for now.
so methonal is ok to use. How about isoproponal? Is that ok? Some goes with ethanol. I'm asking because, these seem to be the main ingredients in gas line antifreezers that i can find locally. Although, they don't entail the concentration. For that matter, how do you know heet is 99% methanol? It doesn't give this info on the bottle, well, in canada anyways.
Thanks guys
Nate

You can use Methanol, Isopropynl or Ethanol. In turbocharged motors I have build, the best results I have came across for a street application is about a 60/40 water/methanol mix.
Only reason I wouldn't reccomend 100% Methanol on a street car is that Methanol is highly corrosive and unless you have a pump, lines and all the parts that will be touched by it upgraded to SS or somthing similar, you will eventually have to replace things.
Go to your local hardware store, buy 1 5 gallon drum of Methanol, they are cheap and don't have any other "stuff" that windshield washer fluid can have.
