I'm going to be using the Mit T25 turbocharger and am wondering what size of charge pipes should I use? and running at 7-8 psi.
well n/m guys, I got off my lazyass and used the wonders of search. Found it, I think 2 1/2 might be my choice then, but I still consider 2 1/4 just to make things easy.
I use 2 here, and so does lee. it works just fine. Think about it. its the same size as your stock Tb anyways.
2.5" just means the turbo works less meaning less heat... i am sure the amount is very small though .. i personal went 2.5" all the way around with the 3" turbo back exhaust but its up to you.

why would the turbo work less hard with a 2 1/2" pipe comparing to a 2"? I believe it works harder to fill up the larger size pipe to create the certain air pressure to be pushed into the engine. So you might be off a bit there.
Bigger pipe size=easier to push air through. Try blowing through a tiny coffee stir straw, now pick up a big McDonalds straw, which one is easier to blow through?
But what happens when the front and back of the McD's straw have the same diameter as the coffee straw? This would be the effect of the compressor outlet and TB...

excatly ^^^ you can have 4inch you will just funel down anyways to the tb.
1. you could get your tb ported or get a new one 62.... in my case which is what? 2.3 or 2.4" so right there its fixed well i guess if your manifold was still stock then no but i dont have that problem
2. still run 2.5" as it still is easier for the turbo to fill the pipes... would be easier if you could get a 2.5" TB but why not go with the biggest you can get or that is with in reason and if you do get a bigger TB down the road you have the charge pipes already?

also think about how much LONGER (turbo lag) it would take to fill that large mcD straw.......................
t25 won't flow enough to need anything bigger then 2 1/4".............. I used 2" for a number of reasons............
1. it's MUCH easier to use....... as far as the bents.... I used like 9 90degree mandrel bends.... couple of straight pieces........ and boom ... done.......
2. the lag is MUCH less... (as stated above)
3. it's the same size as stock tb...... given ..I have a 62mm tb.... it still works GREAT....
4. the whole point of FORCED induction is to FORCE the air through the pipes and into your motor............. 2.5" it will FORCE it through... but take longer..... with 2" you will FORCE it through with much MORE force......... because as you stated it has to get through a smaller hole........

Lee is right to a point.. and thats it also depends on your turbo... you want the biggest pipes you can go with but also you dont want to over kill it with a small turbo...
im running a T3/T04E 60 trim which will flow easly enough to fill 2.5" tubs... but a small T3 might be better off with a 2.25" tubing might not seem like much from 2.5-2.25" but if you look at the cross section and work it out, it is a fair amount of difference
but then you still have to go back to the turbo working harder and more heat, but like i said in one of the posts above... the amount of extra heat made will most likly be soo small you will not even notice it... maybe a 3-4hp MAX loss

I use 2" also because it will spool up faster imo and i also use a small intercooler for the same reason our heads flow like sh*% so anything to help spool time is your friend. Diddnt you have that thing boosted b4 at 8 psi with an fmu and stock injectors? what size pipe did u run then? just curios as how that all worked out if i remember you diddnt blow any motors.
