Help!! Thinking about boostin ma 2.2, 2200
Monday, January 30, 2006 2:24 PM
I have the underdog, the 2200, 2.2L in my 2002 5 speed. Ive had some negetive thoughts because it is the underdog and sometimes i wish i got the ecotec. But i wanna keep it and i wanna be proud of it. Im new at boost and im lookin for some good in-depth information on turboing it. I dont wanna screw up my motor and im not looking for a heavy boost. Im not building up a drag car or anything huge. I just want it tol hold its own but not go overbaord. Longevity of the motor is real important to me cuz i wanna keep this car for along time. Any thoughts, links to info, anything is well appreciated. Ive done some searching but would also like anyones input. Thanks

Hahn Racecraft makes a kit for the LN2 2.2L OHV motor. I can never remember what years that is for but you can look into that for ideas.

after doing more and more reading i see that maybe a supercharger would be a better desicon for what im looking for. last longer, require less maintenance and arent meant for a max amount of horsepower like a turbo would provide...

you got $5000 ???? RSM is the only company I know of that offers a 2200 s/c.........

oh and that 5000 is just for the kit .... never mind the install... I could build 2 turbo kits.... you'd be faster with either of the kits for less then 5000.... geeze.....

Don't mind Lee. He's against buying any turbokit that costs more than $5.

If you do some research and have the necessary skills you can make a nice cheap turbo kit. If you don't you are, more than likely, going to have to buy a kit. HRC has the reputation of being some of the best kits in the market. It is a well deserved reputation too.

Shoot me and email sometime and I can give you a little help. Girls with fast cars are always sexy.

So you have to spend a little more for the Hahn kit and all the "extras." Big deal. Your buying one of the best kits around today and probably the most researched and tested kit there is. Plus no one ever said you had to spend any more money than what you spend on the kit. I don't see it written anywhere that you have to go out and buy things like a clutch, new intake manifold, bigger TB, grounding kit (HAHA BTW.) These are things you chose to get. Not things you have to get.

and you need to do some research yourself. I don't now, nor have I ever, worked for Hahn. I run their kit on my car and sell their products. There's a big difference.

and some more research for you...Hahn is very conservitive on their numbers I've noticed. I easily reached and surpassed their dyno numbers with my kit. They test the kit as sold. With a little work, VERY LITTLE, it easily exceeds their numbers. I bet you didn't even think about the fact that your new IM, TB, and big 3in exhaust are automatically going to give you better numbers than ANY kit running a factory TB, IM, and probably 2.5in exhaust. I bet if we put all of that on the Hahn kit the number would be much closer. Compare equal kits next time.

This is COMPETELY true.... I just wanted you to realize I didn't spenc $5.00 on my turbo kit ... thats a LOW blow........

so now your telling me I spent more....

that was $4000.00 CDN .......

thanks for coming out .... and no you Don't HAVE to get those things .... all I'm saying is I DID FOR LESS MONEY ........... I'm not knocking the tubro kit from hahn or you or anyone else.... just letting people weight there options...........

Sorry for getting into with you but I just HAVE to let other know there IS a cheaper alternative that will net the same if not better results.....

I'm all for letting people know about cheaper options. It's the way you do it. You make anyone that wants to buy a pre-made kit seem like their taking the lazy and cheap-ass way out with your comments.

Stop talking down to and about people is all I'm asking. We all know that your kit was cheaper than Hahn's...you've mentioned that enough. We all know the power you made...you've mentioned that a lot too.

and the hahn way is NOT the "cheap ass way"... it's the proper, correct, tested, amazing, expensive way....

which is usually the better way for that matter....

you got mail hypsy
