Hi all i had a single infinity 12 with a rockford 750s Amp. Be4 it wus stolen. I pushed 142 DB from it in a stereo comp in lynnwood Took 1st place by 15 db hehe if u got any questions drop a line i wanna here if any of you have had good stereo success in teh J-body...

LOL if i had proof/print out id show all i have is a trophey lol 1st place class C single sub as soon as i can get a pic i will
so was there any point to this thread or are you just telling us about your win. If so congrats if not lets not waste time in this part of the .org and just move this thread to off topic or general. I know this is the audio and electronics but it doesn't really have any information pertaining to car audio or electronics. P.s I'm not trying to start anything just saying its more of a general topic nothing more.
Got any pics of your set-up?
I just wanted to see wut other J-Body guys have Db in then j-bodies other then that this post is here for sum comparison to others setups
i hit 137 this past weekend with my so called @!#$ty subs

. i have 2 12inch VOLFENHAG subwoofers and a profile ap2000 amp wired to 2 ohm. it was also on a crappy mike. i still have yet to dynomat or install my capacitor.
just a not it wasnt with any rap cd, it was heavy metal

god i love lacuna coil
hmm 142 with a infinity 12 on 700 watts....what kind of enclosure? I hit 142 with a RE sx 15 on a 1000 watts in a 5 cf SPL enclosure in a hatchback. I'm a little skeptic about that score. But its possible is it was taken on an old audiocontrol mic which a new mic will take about 6 db off of your score which would be about right.
With the cav, my high was 145 on the new termlab sensor, 2 12" subs and a MA Audio HK602sx amp. Box, subs and amp in trunk, optima yellow, stock alternator. Proof is in my dbdrag stats page, the Altoona show (coincidentally the same night my cav was totalled).

um excuse me what the hell. i just started getting into sound comps and if you doubt anything i said ask rodimus prime and i have the trophy to prove it. i didnt know the cap wouldnt help. thank you you just reminded me why i dont post on jbo anymore. good luck with your 195 db.
wysiwyg: thank you for the helpful information i had no clue it would actually lower the voltage. right now when i turn the stereo up my voltmeter reads between 13.2 and 13.7 volts. so if i put the capacitor in that will actually lower the voltage? i know the lower volatage will lower the score but i didnt know the cap would actually lower it. i guess the only thing i can do next is get a bigger alternator built if that would help?

lowers the voltage..not a good thing if your competing.
upgrade the big 3.....sufficient batteries...and maybe an alt. (if you haven't already)

Which Infinity speaker was that??? If thats true i will be pretty damn impressed. I hit 144.9db with my 2-15" Cadence wildbeasts and JBL 1200 powervalve amp.
damn that is a drop in that test. i already have an optima yellow top battery, i was going to run 2 batteries but i dont want to get too complicated if im going to compete. maybe down the road. the alternator is a brand new 110amp (i think) factory replacement. im going to be resealing the trunk weatherstripping and all the door weatherstripping when i get the time to do it. will dyno mat help at all?
just for the record i did hit 137 db if you dont beleive me thats your problem i do have proof if he ever posts on here (rodimus prime)
you also might wanna do the big 3 upgrade that will help you out
Not to be a jerk or anything, but to me, it's such a minute difference in the test between cap and no cap, that it could also possibly be another factor in there too. For example, it's a 2000 watt system, and they're only running 4 ga wire? And a 15 farad cap on a 2000 watt system. I'm not gonna say that a cap is gonna help in dB, cause I don't think it will in competing. But to say that is definately is causing a noticeable voltage drop is hard to say... hell, even they say "I see no meaningful differences with or without the cap." Again, in my opinion, it isn't a noticeable "hurting" difference, but it's not really gonna make a difference in dB Competition. But I do know I like not having my lights dimming all the time.
I think a slightly better test, would've been dB output at certain points in the test, as opposed to average voltage. Maybe someone will have one soon though. Hard to say. I will say though, that I'm glad someone actually posted a cap test with actual numbers too, as opposed to just jumping on everyone and saying caps suck, they waste stuff, they hurt your system, and so forth. So thank you W!
Anyway, keep competing! (Wish there was somewhere closer to me that did them actually...just for curiousity sake)
sometimes it helps sometimes it hurts, dont know about you but i dont like half the stuff in my car blinking so i go with the cap

ok there are two type of mics out there for stereo comps: The AC meter and the TL meter. TL meters are a much tighter/stricter mic and by far the most accurate. AC mics generally record at about 6-7 db less then the TL mics. So if you hit 142 on a AC mic probably hitting a 136 or so on a TL. dbDrag uses TL for a reason...other thent he fact that termpro owns termlab.
