Air bag removal

Just wondering if I remove the Air Bags from my 2004 Cavy....will it effect anything besides the light being on all the time. I hate those things as my previous accident that I was in they never deployed. Plus I got a real good price on the air bags in my ride from a rebuild garage.

Other then being illegal and the fact your insurance company will probably flip.....

This is the part I was talking about. It is illegal to remove your airbags. Not to mention once your insurance company finds out, your rates will go sky high. And to top it all off, the seat belts in newer cars are designed to work with air bags. Take them out, and you run a risk of hurting yourself even more.

Its not illegal to drive without airbags. I had my car inspected at the DMV and it didn't have airbags and they didn't say anything. As far as insurance, just don't tell them. But you might get screwed over when u are in an accident and don't have bags. But Im willing to take that chance. Car and everything will still be fine. Put some tape over the light and u wont even need to worry about that.

actually titus it is illegal, its illegal to remove any saftey device from a car that came equipped that way. just because the dmv didnt catch it doesnt mean it's legal. thats like saying you got pulled over for speeding and the cop didnt ticket u for your tint, that doesnt mean its not illegal, it just means he didnt' care.

as for the light you can either tape over it, or pull your speedo apart and try and unhook the bulb. be careful though.

as for insurance you can choose to not tell them but soon as your in an accident it will all come out and good chance they'd drop you and you'd find it hard to get insurance if anyone else checks to see why you were dropped from your last insurance company.
