I have a Power Accustik 980w sub monted to back seat. I know not to leave back seat up for jammn'. But even with back seat down, windows down my amp keeps getting hot and cutting in and out(this is a pain when your trying to show off sys.) I didn't want to re-locate my amp cause it hides behind my box when I flip the back seat up. What do you guys/gals suggest?

Are you sure that your amp is plug correctly, at a good impedance for the amp, the amp is only 4ohms bridge mono or 2ohms stereo.

I will have to check this evening. amp works fine when your rolling but when I go to meets or shows not pushing real hard it starts to get really hot (after 1/2 hr)then cuts in&out. maybe I'll just get a battery oper. fan cause my ac button has'nt worked in about a year. gotta get that fixed before summer. But the systems only a month old so I could take it back to where I had it installed.

Is this by any chance an LT-980?..i had that amp powering my 2 Alpine S12"s and it used to do the same thing..I'd be driving for a while with my music loud, and when it'd het super hot it would go into the protect mode...one day i turned on my car and i heard a pop from it..well it still worked so I thought that was wierd ..drove around for a while and then my subs cut off and wouldnt come on..the LED's in it would work but the green power LED would not turn on, if i took off the power wire and touched it to the input the red LED would come on for a few seconds and then nothing..So i bought one from Best Buy and switched it with the blown one..the A/V installer said the "Sub Output?" was blown..you better look into selling it or turn it down..I got a Directed 1000D amp now..
It eventually blew the alpines..and it never would get hot..also when i had my X box on with the PA amp my screen would get all kinds of lines through it...now that i have the Directed amp it does'nt get any lines no matter how loud i have my subs beating..

Yep it"s an LT-980 and I did get it from Best Buy took back up there they said everything was fine but I think there full of $h!t!!! When I got home earlier I Adjusted the amp "lower" It stopped getting so hot but when i crank it up real loud that MF still gets hot. So I think I will take your advice and start looking into a different amp. Thanx!!
