My father wants a Stock cd/mp3 deck for his 04 sunfire. I was curious if anyone knows of any stereo shops that sell them over the internet??? Perhaps a junk yard that has them piled up in your location??? HECk, are you selling one? hehe

Will a stock mp3 deck form a 04 Cavi/sunfire work in a 01 cavi with out the mp3.. and just a C/d player..? sorry about the question..

i dont understand what your asking?

i think the problem in your case is gonna the fact that an 04 is an RDS... and an 01 isnt an RDS

you have to go to the GM dealer and reprogram it to your VIN number

^^^ Yup. I tried to install my CD/tape into my brother's '00, from my '03, and it didn't work. You need to go to the dealer, and have it re-programmed. The factory deck on the '03's(?) and up, are VIN coded, to only work with that car. It costs about $100 Can. to get it reprogrammed. Needless to say, I didn't do that.



I may not know much about cars, but I know two things....
1) Breaking things is expensive, and
2) Horsepower isn't cheap.

ebay has lots of stock cd/mp3 players, but they're fairly expensive. If you get one that has never been installed (ie, brand new), you shouldn't have to take it to the dealer to flash it, since it will not have ever locked itself to a particular vin. I upgraded my am/fm to an am/fm/cd and the dealer flashed it for free and it took about ten minutes. It all depends on who you ask.
