im just curious how bad a spl box really sounds?? right now my box is tuned to 35 htz with a very flat response curve...but i was looking at one box design that was tuned to 33 htz and it had a 10db higher peak in the response curve....so im wondering how bad spl boxes sound..phil
33hz...not really an "SPL" box......more of a daily driver
i'd consider an SPL box one that's tuned to the resonant frequency of the vehicle (usually around 50-60hz range) made for being loud at one frequency.

well the box is tuned at 35 htz but it hits the hardest at 40 -60 htz which is the resonant frequency..the box i want is tuned to 33 htz but it hits hardest at 50 or so htz....either way..do they soun crappy?? for a daily driver/odd comp??phil
mine is tuned to 35 hz...doesn't peak anywhere NEAR 60 hz...prolly peaks around 38 or so. sounds fine for a daily driver.
if you tune it to high...your gonna lose your lows. for a daily box i wouldn't tune higher then 35hz. my next box i'm tuning to around 28 hz.
