6x9 or 6.5" for rear decklid?
Monday, April 11, 2005 7:11 PM
ok, i listen to a lot of metal, with a lot of doublebasskick drums, heavy metal, hard rock, whatever you wanna call it. im going with infinity kappa's, but i dont know which size. i want sould quality first, dont need staging, just crisp quality and VOLUME. i want it LOUD. was hoping to have some suggestions from some of the pro's on here.

i searched, but didnt go nuts. this is relatively specific so i figured that i wouldnt find anything anyway. thanks to those that can give me some advice!

I have 6x9s in the rear deck, and 6.5s in the front, both by rockford. The 6x9s hit ALOT harder, so i would say go with the 6x9s. I listen to alot of hard rock, and metal, so i know what your looking for. Go 6x9s

well just so u know u wont get any staging from a speaker that is placed behind you.

if all u care about is being loud, pick the speaker that can handle the most power, and feed it.

the 6x9's will provide the most bass but will have a worse sound quality when compared to 6.5's. But for the sake of an easy install and the fact you won't hear the rear speakers just go with the 6x9's. Basically the rear speakers are just for the people sitting in the back. If you haven't changed your front speakers yet change those first, and put in 5 1/4" speakers, possibly a mid tweet combo.

first priority is a crisp sound. 2nd is volume. im putting in 2 12" kappa subwoofers within the next few days (box will be done tomorrow). if i have to sacrifice a lot of volume by putting in the 6.5" then screw it. point is, id like volume, but crisp sound is more important. not muddy! dont need deep bass, subs will handle that.

6.5's ALL the way...Way cleaner than 6x9's(even within the same brand..) Throw an amp on them and they should keep up with the 12's just fine..

My mids keep up with my sub setup, and that's nothing to scoff at really..
