ya, im not worried about using it around town really, cuz i dont really speed a whole lot. just got caught on this one occasion. this was my first speeding ticket ever, and ive been driving for about 8 or 9 years now, but i have a long roadtrip coming up, and i always notice myself going from 10 over to 10 under, etc. cuz i dont have cruise.

also my buddy has been running it for about a year and a half and i have ran it for about 8 months and we both have not ever gotten a ticket for speeding cuz just remember u get what u pay for and we both pick up cops running radars from about a mile to 2 miles sometimes. it gives u plenty of time to slow down.

id say get a valentine......yes its more expensive, but the directional arrows and the threat counter make it worthwile IMO. and besides, if it stops you from like 2 tickets, its paid for itself right? I love my valentine, it picks up radar at a very far range, plenty of time to slow to 55 mph from 100 mph

They dont work anymore. Unless you have a department that has very old radar units, the new radar detectors hardly put out enough signal even to be seen. Trust me, I know.

The greatest thing about a radar detector is you know where all the gas stations and grocery stores are. Only advantage of one anymore.

Find urself someone that works at best buy. Thats what i did. I got a $350 escort radar decetor for $140. It saved my a$$ alot of times. Dont cheap out unfortunatly you get what you pay for with radar decetors.

Escorts are by far the best brand, Cobra is number 2.

I got a Cobra... 11 channel. X, K, Ka bands, Laser, everything.

If even detects if the cop has a a radar-detector-detector. lol

It was $90.

And yes, automatic doors (as on most gas stations and grocery stores) set them off.

BUT these, as well as other "false alarms" are 99 times out of 100 on the X band, which is almost never used anymore.

Every time Ive been pulled over its been a Ka band. lol. Never gotten a ticket though.

See the ting is... in order for you to get a ticket for speeding, you need to be clocked at the same speed 3 times in a row (called being locked at a speed). So, once the radar detector starts going off, if you even jsut let off the gas to slow down, you more then likely cant get a ticket.

But whatever you do, if you get pulled over and you are asked "do you know how fast you were going" DO NOT tell the cop. If you admit to a speed that is higher then what he has, or if he doesnt even have you locked at a speed at all, he CAN give you a ticket for the speed you say.

Lasers are different, it only takes one shot to get you.

There are expensive radar detectors taht tell you if the radar is in front, behind, or to the side of you... THESE ARE dumb. Simply cuz... If a radar is being shot at the side of your car, it will return 0 (maybe 2 if you're merging).

Radars and Lasers ONLY work if the cop is in front or behind of you. If they are to the side they cant prove anything. Not to mention, if in ANY amount of traffic, a cop needs to get littereally within feet of your car so the radar doesnt get confused... gives you plenty of time and warning to slow down.

And one more note... A cop can only use a laser if he's stopped. Not that that really matters though... lol

Radars and lasers don't only work in the cop is infront of you, they can get from the side. Techinally an officer doesn't need to tag you with the radar, or laser is he/she is beside you, all they have to do is match your speed, by driving next to you. May not exactly be full proof, but if you appeal the ticket it'll be your word against an officers word, who do you think a Magistrate is gonna side with?

A cop doesn't need to be stopped to use his laser. They can follow you with their laser on you. My Dad got pulled over on the highway be an undercover cop who had him going 75 mph in a 65 mph zone for 841 feet. The cop it on the ticket, he was behind us the whole time, we just didn't realize it.

With all that said I'm calling on half your post

Lasers only work while the squad car is stopped. Your dad probly got ahd with a radar. And no, an officer cant simply match your speed, because there is no way to prove anything, except his word.

I am a police explorer here in blaine, have been for 2 and a hlaf years. not to mention ive checked in on this topic for myself in the past. i know what im talking about.

so you can go your mom cuz i know what Im talking about and i wouldnt say something false. Andif i did, i would state so and ask for clarification.

anyway the k40 also has a filter so it doesnt go off at the grocery stores and automatic doors read into it at www.k40.com
