digital hvac control relocation, do they exist?
Saturday, April 09, 2005 8:28 PM
I was talking with someone earlier today about putting a headunit where my heater/ac controls are ... and he said it wouldn't be too hard and he's done it before.

He said he's also gone as far as getting a digital touch sensitive HVAC controller ... he said it's kind of like a touch screen, and climate control, etc... where you can set a temperature and it does the rest... and you put this in place of the original controller with the knobs, etc.

any of you guys know anything about this? where can i find this stuff?

thanks

I researched it a while back, but it is costly. The display was near a grand, then then all the new wiring and control systems added an extra $1500.

If you're creative with a sawzall.. you could theoretically swap in the hvac unit from another small car.. and assuming it's got some sort of electronic control (instead of the vacuum controlled one most GM cars use) you could set it up easier...

I was looking at swapping the controls from a Malibu in, but the vacuum controls are different... there's one less hose
