Im trying to install an aftermarket headunit in my 03 cavalier. I've run into a bit of a problem as no where in my area has the wirining harness for my car. Most places claim it does not exist and persist on saying it is impossible to install without relocating the factory deck. After reading the sticky i'm convinced otherwise, I want to try to splice the wires myself and hook up the deck without the harness, does anyone know which color wires corespond to the ones for my car? Any diagrams of info would be greatly appreciated.

Use a hrness, it will make for an easier install, and in case you need to take it out ever, it will be much less of a headache.
Just go to the store, and ask for a Metra wiring harness part number 70-2003 ( i am 99% sure this is the right number, its in the sticky), it will work. You only lose door chimes. Dont let the workers tell you it wont work because the computer needs it, etc. Tell then you know what you are doing, and all you want is that harness.
^^agreed. that's the right harness, it's the one i used in my 03'.
you should ask them if they wanna watch you install it..maybe they will learn a thing or two, lmao

yea, walmart, best buy, any reputable electronics store will have it for around 5~8 dollars. I think ya *might* need a faceplate, too. what that does is keep your stereo thats 1 DIN size from flying back and covers up that ugly ass holt you have with the 1.5 din stereo sitting there from before.
the dash kit you need...just ask for the metra kit for your cavy..it has a pocket in it.

The only harness I could find for the class 3 had a chime in it, and cost $60, so I just spliced in behind it. I can simply cut off my leads and plug my factory back in when I need to.
