almost every night. my car alarm has been going off in the middle of the night.... i put the shock sensor at its lowest, therefore it's not that... all the door pins and hood pin are ok...
only one which i think is causing problems is the mercury switch that was installed in the trunk... i think it acts with gravity... as soon as the trunk is lifted opened the alarm rings... anyhow...
anyone have an idea of what it could be???
it's a viper 540esp model.
p.s. also once in a while, when i arm the car , it beeps a 2nd time and that means it is bypassing a zone.. therefore i think there is a zone casuing problems somewhere...
The led will flash a certain number of times depending on what zone was triggered. Your manual or installer will be able to tell you what sensor it was.
just a quick question... i found the problem... it's the hood pin switch, when the hood goes down... it pushes a pin down and i guess sends a signal.. well i played around with it and it's not doing anything.. alarm is not responding and flasing once telling me it's the hood trigger...
now my question is.. how do i replace it... where to go?? GM directly for the pin switch or does it come with the alarm system? does every cavalier have one?
It came with the alarm. I'm not familiar with any websites that sell alarm stuff but i'm sure they are out there. Do a search for viper hood pin and see what comes up. Shouldn't be too difficult to replace.
any hood pin should be comaptible, its just a reverse intermittent switch. Where most intermittent switches make contact when they are depressed, these make contact when they are released.

"Only on the outside, craka."
Ya...
Its a negative trigger... Sends a ground signal down the wire when the hood is opened..
