Ok. I'm tired of hearing one over the other on these two. My main question is between the
MTX 8512-44 (http://mtx.com/caraudio/products/subwoofers/thunder8500.cfm) and the
Infinity Kappa Perfect 12.1D (http://infinitysystems.com/caraudio/product.aspx?ProdId='KAPPA+PERFECT12.1D'&Ser=KPE&Cat=SUB)
What I've heard is: Infinity Kappa and Kappa Perfect are not that much better than the Reference in terms of subs. I love my reference, but its time for more thump, and I'm gonna give my girl my reference as soon as I have my new sub. I've also heard that KPs have a nasty habit of burning up/blowing out easy. I know that MTX will hit hard, and I've never had a problem with MTX ever, but the Infinity products are considerably cheaper for me. I get both through accommodation with work, but my Infinity accommodation is more substantial.

I went with JL W3v2s over my Kappa Perfect
infinity hands down. much crisper. JL's have voice coil problems, not to mention everybody and their brother has one. no thanks.

Infinity is better overall, BUT But reproductive sounds thwn any other, so if you want Mind rattling Mass distorted crap, dont buy an infinity.

Infinity's are if you want Great SQ, so the Bump is less, but more accurate.

MTX makes a great sub. its all about your personal taste tho. i myself, listen to a lot of hard rock and heavy metal, with double basskicks. iw ant that to come out crisp, so i went infinity. if you listen to rap, or want just pure SPL in general, JL, MTX, XXX, all great brands to go with.

It's true, Infinity is really "tight", the bass is VERY accurate.
I wanted a good SQ system in my car, so that's why I went with them....but I put my 2 12" in a ported 4 foot/square box tuned at 30hz
. So they can get loud... but compared to MTX, its two completely different style of bass...
I took a listen to my friend's MTX 8000, and it sounded hellishly tight, even off his stock head unit, so I think I'll go with the MTX 8512. Thanks for all the input.

i got my infinitys i have in my blazer from a friend and they are reference series. he dropped svc erfernce 12s for dvc mtx 12s. He lost sql and spl so i would definetly say Infinity is where its at.
I'm a whore for dvc, its what I started with, and I love it. Lower impedence means more power.
