box design question
Saturday, April 02, 2005 9:36 PM

im wondering if a box like this would hurt the sound of the sub...compared to a normal, square box. note: the box is not made to exact scale and the angle may be straighter, but will be near 1.5 cubic ft.

what do you guys think?
thanks for the help everyone!

As long as the volume is correct, you'll be fine. Accousitcally, the optimum shape is a sphere, i beleive, as it would focus the sound waves inside, but I could be wrong. Needless to say, that is a little hard to accomplish for most of us. I think you'll be fine if the volume is right. After all, look at some of the shapes for vehicle matched encosures.

It could be better than a square or rectangle box, due to the standing waves not bouncing off the back wall directly to the sub. (something like that...?)

alright, so ive worked on a few more designs... tell me which ones you like the best!!

there isnt a huge difference between the last two except some angles... the area on the last two around the speaker will just be added on, built around the 1.5 cubic ft
which do you guys think looks better (of the last two)
and which design do you like the best??
THANKS!
