it makes rattling noise when the sub hits... anyways, my question is can this be fixed, or sent to Audiobahn and replaced/fixed for a small fee, or should I simpilly toss her in the can...

what do you got against audiobahn? I have a single 12" in a sealed box and it hits nicely.
Ive had 3 10" audiobahns, underpowered that blew out.
2 6x9 running off the stock deck... one started smoking...
I just gave up and @!#$ canned the brand.
Not to mention, him asking a question as he did was askign for people's individual opinions... theres mine

underpowered isnt good if it makes distortion.... running off the deck underpowers... distortion...

Audiobahn is a good speaker. I would say before you send it out contact audiobahn and try to work something out with them. They might even do it for free. Their number is 714-988-0400. Now that i think about it it could actually be your crossover on your amp. Dubble check and make sure it is fine. Even try to kick it down a notch to see if that would clear it up. After that then try to fix it. If you cant fix it, hit me up. I might be able to get you the sub pretty cheap.
underpowering a speaker won't kill it.
oh yea, and throw the sub out....it was junk before it ever left the store.

I love Audiobahn to death. But, scrap that ALUM, and go find another. You'll probably go through hell trying to get it fixed/replaced since it was given to you by a friend, and who knows what warranty is left or even IF there is.
Also, the ALUMS are dual 6 ohm coil subs. So the best you could get out of that one sub, is a 3 ohm load. Since that sub when unbroken can take up to 1000 watts, you'd be hurtin to find an amp that can push out that kinda power at that load. I ran two ALUM12s and ended up only giving them about half of what they were capable of. They were great to use, even at that. But that was a lot of power, which I could've easily trounced by changing subs (which is why I now have 2 AW1205Qs to go in.

Not true. If you under power a speaker that means the amp is trying to push out too much power that it can handle. The amp will then get hot trying to power the speaker it cant push. A hot amplifier can then do 1 of two things. either trigger into protect mode killing all sound, or the other that is more destructive, and try to keep powering the speaker. When a amp is hot it will then produce distortion. Distortion is then the real factor that blows the speaker. So therefore under powering a speaker can blow it...
I think a common misconception, is the idea of "underpowering" a speaker. If I have an amp that can provide 150 watts of RMS power, and I never push it beyond that limit cleanly, but I am hooked to a sub that can handle say, 300 watts RMS power, then I am underpowered. BUT, if I don't try to compensate for the difference by pushing the amp to distortion, no harm will be done (other than my ego). But the second I try to turn past that level, the sub will suffer. I've heard systems being cranked so far into distorting, that I can't even hear music, and I cringe. But, I've run 600 watts into a 1000 watt speaker reliably for over a year, on a daily basis. Just make sure that you don't try to push more than what the amp is capable of producing WITHOUT DISTORTION. That's the key.

do you know what happens when you turn your volume down?? you reduce the power to your speakers....at volume "2" your amp is not gonna push 1000 watts or whatever it's supposed to do at full power
you said it yourself...distortion kills speakers, not the fact that it's "under" powered.
go learn something...stop giving out myths as advice.
