Ok, I'm sure that this will be a stupid question. I plan on removing my door panels to fix some rattles that I have and figured that this would be a good time to put some dynamat in there. I'm just trying to figure out where do I put it? Once I remove the door panel, do I put the daynamat on the metal door frame that is right behind the door panel itself, or do I have to remove all of the door components ie. lock mechanism, control rods, etc., and apply the dynamat to the door skin(I think that is what it is called) is at? I have the rest of the car done except for the rear deck, but just wanted to know where I will be applying this at. Thanks for your time, Paul Moore

I've heard the best place to put it is right around where the speaker is mounted, and anywhere you notice lots of rattles/noise. Someone confirm/correct me.

yeah, what I do is hit on the door and listen for rattles, then I put a little bit of dynamat on the area with the rattle. It seems to work for me
Put dynamat here

put it on the inner door skin. cover as much as you can. try just adding a few strips rather then one large piece, it will still be effective.

i'd put a few layers on the outter door skin if you have some decently powered door spreakers, this will help to minimize vibrations do to midbass, and then after the outter doorskin is taken care of and damped, do the inner door skin like the pic above if u have enough damping for it. and if u havnt bought it yet there are allot of companies making sound damping just as good as dynamat for half the cost.

once u take off the door you'll realize that most of the stuff of the door is inside the door, so you can just go over everything, just like in that pic.

the only thing with doing the outer skin is hit can be hard to get to for dynamat. I'd suggest spray deadening the outer. couple liters would do some good.

yea, the spray stuff takes quite a bit to do it's job correctly.
I used 3 liters per door on my astro...just on the outer skins. then i had triple layers of mat on the inners with some metal reinforcement, lol.

I just bought some dyna for cheap. Only 8sq feet, though. I'm gonna use 4 to do my trunk, and 4 for my speakers when I replace them. I'm just gonna do the area right around the speakers for now.
