Just got my stereo hooked back up last night and everything is cool.. except last night I blew the fuse on the power wire to the amp. Replaced and it worked great until this afternoon.. at lunch, it blew again. Standard "10" fuse. Pretty sure thats what came with the amp wiring in the first place. It might be that im playing mysic through my iPod too loud.. but this is goofy. Can I just get a stronger fuse to stick in there? Like a 20 or 30? The fuse on the amp is fine.. it has never blown. Its purple.. (60?) dont know... Thanks,

Its a 10?? Thats lowww. Try getting a 20 or 30.

Cool.. thanks
Its a large 10 though.. not those small ones that go in the fuse box.... but 20's or 30's should work?...
Why the hell would the amp wiring package come with such a low amp fuse in the first place?

It ALL depends on the AMP's fuse rating.. Match the ratings as best as you can.. The power wire's fuse only protects the WIRE from melting/catching on fire etc..
"It's purple--(60?) don't know"
It doesn't have the rating on it?
10 is low, usually cd players are fused with a 10..

Yea.. the head unit has a 10 in it as well. And yea.. the amp has a power rating on its fuse.. just dont know it off hand right now.. thought if I said "purple" that might make a diff. Anywho.. its a fat ass power wire so Im sure I could get away with a 20 or 30 without melting it.

as long as you have one of those beefy wires from your battery to your amp (directly), 20 should be no problem. thats what im running
i'd put in a 30, thats a standard size for an 8 gauge wire (assuming thats what you have) and a small amp.

What kind of power does the amp put out? Like others have said, try upgrading that fuse to a 20 or 30 amp.
But 10 amps, man, whoever thought of that one is crazy.

You know you miss the spam in TPOT.
Yeah, that's probably a good thing that you don't remember. Nothing to worry about.
