I heard that if you bolt down the amp to the subwoofer box, your bass would damage your amp.

Is that true?

2 years for me, and no problems here

I personally like it on the back seat. Dunno if its any better then on the sub box, I guess its all personal preference?

Mine's been bolted to the box for as long as I've owned it. Unless you just get a really shoddy amp, it shouldn't be a problem.

no one has proved it, some have had amps die and they say it was do to the amp being on the box. but reality would show you that the car driving down the road and hitting potholes and going up curbs will do more vibrational damage then a subwoofer box that shouldnt be vibrating at all if its built half way right.

that's sometimes the problem...kid's get lazy and build their boxes outta 5/8" particle board or something else that resonates and flexes like crazy.

we can only hope. That's the reason why i rarely would tell someone to mount the amp on their box. just in case. But if you know what your doing then it's a different story.

I touched my box with the subs on and your right, there is very little vibration. Almost none.

I hardly take out my box so moving it wouldn't matter to me

the biggest downfall i see to an amp mounted to the sub box is most people also dont bolt the sub box down so it makes a nice neat package for a theif.

i used 5/8 mdf and well im having no problems in fact ive moved both my amps up to the box and purchased a third amp in order to power better subs, but yah wutever, i used 3/4 and 5/8 smae dimensions and well no probsyet goign hard since september

depending on where its mounted on the box, box flex MAY damage it, if the box is the proper thickness and has good bracing their will be no damage, just make sure its mounted over atleast three braces(front or rear edge, and center brace) preferably over four or more, mines mounted on a piece of board bolted into my passenger seat with spacers to keep it from rubbing stays cool, stays dry, lets me fiddle with gain/crossover if i need to while stopped at a light
