do you mean removing the battery from the car??? or removing the batter (watch sized one) from the radio?

If you're taking the battery out of the car and leaving the radio in it you don't need the code because as long as it's staying in that car you'll be ok and it'll work. if you're moving the radio to a different vehicle you need teh code to make it work after hookup.

If you're taking the battery out of the radio you'll have to have the entire thing dealer reprogrammed, but I doubt this is what you're talking about 'cus you have to tear apart the guts of the radio to get to it. Hope this helps?

74 in a 45?? are you sure officer?? I really didn't think my car would even go that fast!!

RDS, or the Radio Data System, is a system by which useful information can be transmitted to a tuner or receiver. Any radio that has the RDS "figure of eight" logo and wording will be able to receive and decode RDS information. Information available will often include:

the station name
an indication as to whether the station broadcasts travel bulletins
an outline of the programme currently being broadcast
the current time

RDS works on the FM waveband only since the RDS information is encoded within the FM signal. RDS is not available on medium wave, long wave or the AM waveband.

That is what the RDS stands for, if anyone was wondering. Oh, you didn't wonder?
