Ok I have a 2001 sunfire 2 door. and I think I have a monsoon stereo lol. Going by my owners manual it looks identical to the monsoon in the picture. It has the theft program and also the RDS program. But the thing that gets me is it don't actually say monsoon on the deck and also in the manual it says they have 8 speakers?? Mine only has 6 far as I know lol. may sounds dumb but if anyone can clear this up for me sure would be nice! thanks....
when u turn it on, it will say monsoon. Also speaker wise u have tweeters in the front, woofers in the front and the same in the rear except the tweeters are in the big speaker

hey thanks now i understand the 8 speaker part. but i had my deck warrentied due to a light out in the display. and it never said monsoon in the display before that but now it says calibrate (i understand why it says that cause i read it in the manual). I stereo isnt bad but I wouldnt mind hooking up an amp and subs again like I had in my truck before. But they dont have RCA hook-ups right?

Any idea what a line-level converter would cost?? and does that run RCA straight to an amp like a normal deck would after u hooked it up??

Pull back the carpet in the trunk, on the driver's side...
If there's a BIG black box there... that says Monsoon on it... you've got a Monsoon amp. 8 speakers, but really the rears are two-way... so there's only 6 separate drivers.
If there's a little black and gray box... that doesn't say Monsoon on it... you've got a "premium amplified" system.
if there's no box at all.... no amp.. base model audio system.
