Hey everyone, I am planning on installing a Pioneer Double Din unit in my 2001 Z24 that I am getting myself with some Amazon gift cards I have laying around. I already have a single din aftermarket radio in the car, but because I am switching to Double Din I wanted to make sure I had the right parts and everything should mount flush.I have a lot of experience with straight forward installs, but haven't done a double din head unit install such as this before so wanted to check parts and clearance before I order.
Pioneer 3200DVD , this is the headunit in question.
Scosche GM1590AB Double DIN Kit , this is the Mounting Kit, it does say it takes a 00-05 Cavalier, but I have heard different stories about fitment.
I do not have the tools or time to fabricate anything myself, so I am really looking for a solution such as this, I know many people just made their own adapters, but I am looking for the people who bought this kit and what kind of success they have had. Thanks in advance.

My pioneer I did not need an install kit I used the stock brackets
the head unit pictured in above is a single din unit, he's looking at a double din.
doubt youll find anyone here with that exact unit. my clarion double din i had to make my own mounting brackets out of metal and then just cut a piece of abs for a trim piece. the mounting kit you showed looks like it will problaby work. wouldnt be surprised if you didnt need to do a little trimming to get everything in right and flush.

Awesome, thats what I needed to know. I am not good with fabricating anything, but I will try that mounting kit. It does say it works for 00-05, so I would imagine, the biggest problem might be plastic in the back of the dash. Nothing a dremel cant fix

I thought that double din doesn't fit in the 00+ Cavalier dash....

95-99 is din and a half, 00+ is a double din opening, and some brands fit without modification, but thats why I was asking about Pioneer.
My buddy Paul has an alpine that slide in and Jasons' clarion fit without much modding, he didnt' have an install kit or it would probably just fit but he made the bracket, I don't know about pioneer though which was what I was asking about, but I am sure it is a double din slot

Oh yea, bro. You'll need a Dremel for sure. Also a good idea to have a vacuum handy so that while you're cutting out space in the dash, you can go ahead and have that suction to catch all the shavings.
I didn't need anything other than the brackets that came with my mounting kit, however. Then again, I also got my kit from Best Buy, so it may be slightly different?
Good luck at any rate.
I installed the 4200 a couple months ago in my car. I'm pretty sure the dimensions will be the same. That looks very simular to the trim kit that I got from crutchfield. I had to remove some of the tabs and trim some spots because it was universal but it worked great. The only problem you'll have is the plastic behind the deck, especially above it. It sounds like your already ready for a dremel battle though, so you should be fine. I'm not sure if you already know this, but you can't just ground the parking brake wire out like other models, so if you want to have the monitor on while driving you'll need a relay too. BTW, I really like the deck a lot.
Sorry guys, it's been so long I had it backwards.

Thanks for the input, I already have a 5 prong relay ready and a Youtube video tutorial. I am prepared for that as well. Sounds like everything should work out and I will go ahead and pull the trigger and get it ordered. Thanks everyone for the input, it is GREATLY appreciated. A little reassurance goes a long way.
