Extending wires in Alpine USB cable
Sunday, December 05, 2010 7:28 PM
I want to run the input wires for my 9886 to my center console. They give me enough wire for the iPod cable but not enough for the USB. So my question can I cut the shielding off the USB cord and extend the wires inside?

why not just get a USB extension cable? they're cheap and come in any length.

if ifits just a usb connection get a longer one. or an extender as jl said. i mean you could extend them. but for something like that, unless your really good at splicing and soldering its just easier to get a longer wire.

you're gonna want to tear open the chassis, find the usb/ieee output pins, get yourself an arduino and program an algorithm to turn the data stream from usb into two digital optical feeds. Run your fiber optic cable to the usb where another arduino on a 5v regulated supply merges and converts the optical back into usb.

or just get the $2 cable, if you're boring like that.

WTF. I have to do all of that to extend some wires? Sounds unlikely.

I probably couldve found it but Im a nerd and like to do it the hard way with all of the soldering and wiring. I find soldering relaxing. <<<Weird.

SEE! you young bucks and your silly techno mumbo-jumbo. Where any normal adult like myself would have said "Swords?", you young whipper-snappers say "Lightsabers". The world is going to hell in a handbag.

333hz is proven to turn women on. First freq we recognize in the womb.
