I am trying to install a 12V Led light pannel on the interior of the car so that it turns on when the door is openned and off when closed, similar to the dome/interior light. The switch in the dorr has 2 wires black and a green/black. Seems by the manual that the dome lights are activated by a ground or negative switch. So the black is grounded and green/black is the negative portion of the interior light circuit. I am assuming when the door opens the black and green/black are conected completing the ground. Am I correct? If I attach the positive wire from my 12V LED strip to a positive wire and tap the negavive wire of my LED strip to the green/black will this complete my circuit in the LED strip so that it turns on when the door is opened. If not whats the best way to acomplish this?
Use a relay. 86 and 30 to a fused 12 volt positive, 87 to the led strip positive, 85 to the door trigger wire. Then ground the negative from the led strip.

Ok figured I may need a relay. Thanks for the clarification, now I don't need to draw out the circuit and work it out myself.
