How does everyone feel about this? Im still trying to find a replacement for the Z15. *Cough*Which is still for sale*Cough*
Theres an ID8v3 on eBay that hasnt even made it to a dollar yet. If it can do the job as well as a 12 Ill go for it.
The only thing Id worry about is the low end extension which is something Id really like to have.

If the 8" sub can significantly out-throw your 15 it'll likely outperform it in the low end as well.

What do you mean by out-throw?
More powerful motor, more excursion
Then no. The Z15 has a much stronger motor and higher excursion.
Just looking to save some space.
Did you not read the original post? The 8" was a good deal. I want to go 12" but if the 8's cheaper and will do the job then why not.
i had 2 sundown sa-8s and i thought they hit pretty low...they really like the low to mid 30hz range. Depends on how low you want to hit. But they didnt like stuff under 30 hz, it had a harder time hitting. So will a 8 hit low notes yes can it do it easily...i dont think so. especially with only 1. id say if you like your low notes i would go with the 12

You have them in a horn too dont you?
I just cant see them getting down to where I want for an SQ setup in a sealed enclosure.
yes they were in a horn...With a sealed box i just dont see 8s hitting low and the sa-8s were highly suggested to not use a sealed box. i no longer had them because both tore the surround. upgrading to a pierce audio wmd2 15R. (wont have a problem with low notes no more lol)
Excellent. Im starting to think about just slapping the Z15 in a smaller sealed box and keeping the big box around.
What do you consider "low"?
A speaker only sounds as good as its box
Not totally true. A good box only goes so far. Nothing can make a Funky Pup sound good.
I can make a funky pup sound good from 50-80Hz at 100dB
Good good. Thats all the range I need. Hahahaha. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrp.
My Funky Pup sounds awesome actually.....
