Where can I find 4x6 to 6.5" speaker adapters?
Sunday, June 27, 2010 5:34 PM
Basically I just installed 6.5" Infinity speakers in my door panels using adapters that I got with the speakers (no idea where they came from). Unfortunantly they are angled and could not fit behind the door panel facing upward.. So now I have them angled pointing down. I dont like it!

Do they make a flush mounting 4x6" to 6.5" adapter plate?? I have heard such thing is impossible to find these days..

I got mine on ebay, the only issue I had was that it pushed the speaker so far up that it interfered with the interior door panel.

I can't sink it back down by shaving things because the basket of the speaker hits the sheet metal of the door, and if i clearance that out, the magnet would interfere with the window track.

I currently have the Metra 4x6 to 6.5 adapters and the angle of the adapters makes in impossible to properly mount them. Have yet to see any other company make a 4x6 to 6.5. But I havnt searched very hard.

I just ordered some MDF adapters, Dustin hooked it up!

I should have plenty of window track clearence. My speaker magnets arnt ginormous.

does anyone know if those adapters fit 5.25? just a little confused when it said "•made with 5 1/2" round cutouts to house most 6 1/2" aftermarket speakers". I got some 5.25 components.

the cut out is smaller than the outside diameter. I don't see what's hard to believe, how would you mount a 6.5" speaker in a 6.5" hole??
You need to find adapters that are made for 5.25" speakers. The guy who is making the one's for Jay can easily get you a set for 5.25" if you need them. I can let him know to make a set quick, get you his paypal and get them to ya as quick as possible. I do believe they would be $19 shipped.

Shameless plug... but guys, if you ever need enclosures or custom in-car wood work, let me know. This guy does absolute wonders with wood and can take on whatever you throw at him. between passionate unmatched quality and beyond competitive pricing, I would love to get more people into his enclosures Same goes for anyone wanting higher end audio or anyone in my area looking for a REAL install and tune hehehe. God I gotta stop stealing threads to pitch sales lol.

i HATED the metra one's. they angle the speaker up towards the driver which is great but unfortunately it makes the surround smack the door panel so they suck balls.

i got my 4X6<6.5" adapters on ebay from some guy that makes tons of them for absolutely every conversion you could imagine LOL. very nice piece's, made from MDF.

Just received my 4x6 to 6.5 adapters today from www.Car-speaker-adapters.com

I like them. Gonna run a strip of dynamat around the 6.5 bezel to close up all those gaps between the two pieces. Otherwise I am happy with these. Still waiting on the ones from Dustin's boy! Those will be used for another project im sure.

Couldn't find my digital camera so here is a crappy iPhone pic uploaded to facebook. Excited to install these and get rid of my bulge.

If anyone has other suggestions for better sound quality let me know! I basically Dynamat everything and call it good. Haven't had an issue yet.

^^^Those look cheap and the gap will kill your midbass response. Id definitely hit them with something to close the gap.

Second Skin or Cascade VB as far as better dampening mats than anything Dynamat has to offer... and price to performance ratio is better. But either way, those look decent. Hopefully the one's from Mike get there soon.

I will agree with that. Im gonna try and beef them up some before installing. It's all pretty solid and bolted together.

i have those exact same ones.. i used dynamat cut in a long strip to fill the gap and they work and sound great. i wish i would have known about cascade before cause i would have went that route, but you live and learn

id say wait and use the wood ones, if there like the ones dustin posted then use them. solid, no holes for sound to get out. i always prefer wood over plastic.

I have the wood ones like posted above. The fitament is pretty tight within the door panels, but I really like them better sound wise than the cheap plastic ones I originally had. I never thought of undercoating them though.
