i'd like to see some custom set up front speakers. so.......show em if you got em.

i'm just kinda curious to see some people's set ups to get an idea for what i wanna do with mine. i'm thinking of putting some 6.5's up front, and i'd like to see how other people have done this, or whatever other size speaker you got up front, just wanna see some custom work.

You can get 6.5's in the door man. No need for anything super fancy and custom.

i know i can, i just wanted to see if anyone had surface mounted them to the panel, that's kinda the idea floatin around in my head. is that going to look horribly out of place? or do you think it can be done cleanly?

if you have a good clean speaker grille, it will work fine. BUT to do it right, you will need to build a baffle the thickness of the airspace between the panel and the door itself. So that it can sit in there tight and be air tight. you don't want all that extra airspace. If you deaden your doors and use the deadener to cover all the access holes in it, then build a baffle so that the speaker is only exposed to the inner door, not the space between it and the panel, you will see a MUCH better sound out of your mid.

first time trying to post pics so we will see if this works...

MLI-65 6 1/2 on the door

tweeters and cross overs are from the soundstream reference series

and the kick panels are 5 1/4 tarantula series speakers

kinda interested in this idea too, because the sound out of 4x6s and 6.5s of the same power are not even comparable and the 6.5s are much more common. I would like to angle the speaker toward the roof more. I think im going to mock up some baffles/spacers for the stock sunfire door panels the week. ill post it up soon.

So do I see a set of coaxials in the kick, a set of comps that consist of mids bolted to that flimsy ass grill with nothing behind it, and screws missing? Yikes dude. I wouldn't be showing that off.......

haha yeah ignore that part its not finished yet. I got some wood to put behind the door panel to give it something little stronger to screw to. Just put up on there to show an idea.

Rather than post pics here, take a look at my thread to see how I did mine. It's basically what JL described.
