is the radio by chance wired with the same power that powers the domelight lol?

Yes it is. If you take the dome light fuse out the radio dies. I pretty sure thats where the radio gets it constant power since the dome light is a full time hot circuit.

ok. so can i get power to the radio from another source?
Um? Maybe. What are you trying to do exactly?
let's not go into specifics. let's just say i need a new power source for the radio
closest source is going to be the lighter
care 2 educate me on how i would wire that up?
run a wire from orange on the factory deck harness to the orange on the lighter?
Inbeforethefire. How about some specifics brother?
Your car may do 13 sec @ 103 mph, but my car does 146db @ 35 hz.
lolz, redid the headliner, cut the cords running to the dome light thinking hey @!#$ it i don't need a dome light. well i'm sure you can figure out the rest. now i can't figure out how to rewire it. so i just thought it might be simpler to find a new power source for the radio.
ok, so i have 2 black wires.
3 orange wires (that come off of a split from an original single wire)
and 3 white wires
can someone try and narrow down which ones do what?
any help is always greatly appreciated.

Have you run a meter to it?

ok......new question. now i can't get the dome light to turn off.
is there a way to kill power to the dome light without killing the stereo? are the orange wires the power to the dome and if so if i just simply unhook them will it kill the stereo as well?
Easiest way is to unplug the bulb, It'll kill the dome light but you won't lose power to your radio. Other wise it sounds like you might have fried a door contact while you were changing out the head liner. In that case I'd suggest going to a "professional" (READ: DONT GET WORK DONE WHERE YOU CAN BUY A WII) audio installer and have them take a look. It could be something easy but without actually looking at it I can't say for sure.
