Fuse size...
Sunday, January 31, 2010 4:04 PM
Ok, I have a Viair 450 compressor for my air ride, and I was needing to know, what size fuse should I be using on it??? I have no idea when it comes to fuse size..also, are there any other things that should have a fuse when wiring up the air ride??? If so, where and what size fuse should be used?? Thanks.

Although I'm sure someone on here could help you, I would try either the suspension forum here or I know that the smd forums have an air ride secific fprum wwhich would be more helpful.

Well, on the compressor itself...it says "Max Current Draw 28 AMPS" so im guessing use a 30 AMP fuse, or 25 amp?? Not sure which to go with...

I have a 30amp fuse for my Viair 380c. I'd go with 30.

/\ yup go with the 30. a fuse is circuit protection always protect a tad above max amperage... gotta love bags tho

Now the only other problem....the switch I have to turn the compressor on says 25 amp @ 12VDC on the side....would it still be ok if its fused at 30AMPS?

I love bags! lol

using a pressure switch? or a toggle switch?

Toggle...I hate pressure switches lol, I like to be in more control over what it does....I know, its weird

well ya i wish i could shut it off for a sec while im on the phone or somethin, anyways yes the 30 amp fuse will cover your toggle too. the 12vdc the 12 volts of dc... a conventional electrical system voltage

Sweet lol. I didnt want to put the toggle on there then it melt or fry or something because there was too much amperage through it or something....pretty much didnt want a fire! lol...and im guessing have a 30A fuse between toggle and battery as well??

ah yessss, the magic white smoke..so the system goes battery ...to inline fuse ...to toggle ...to compressor and ground the compressor. all elementary, but i would run 8 gauge wire as well

The handling sucks, the ride sucks, the adjustablility is a PITA, etc. Their only good use is on garage kept show cars.

Yup....I am just going to clarify....it would be battery -----inline 30A fuse -----toggle switch ------inline 30A fuse ------compressor then compressor would ground

Would both be 30A like that??

I was planning on doing some 8 gauge out of an amp kit or something.....its sad when the size of the power wire to my compressor is the same size as the SPEAKER WIRE to my subs lol

to i.l.f.'s arent necessary if a problem occurs the fuse will do its job and open the circuit saving you the white smoke. other than that its all gooooood ey tink i frighn love my bags even tho i drive it in harsh winter and some air lines blow sometimes. i could (and would)bag every vehicle that can be licensed and insured and drive it everyday aha!! my favrit part is the look on peoples face when i park or im draggin its a rush every time i hit a switch

and quite immature... you go waste thousands to make wooshy sounds and handle/ride like crap on all your vehicles... Some of us buy parts for their actual intentions.

I enjoyed my airride for the 1st year, then the novelty wore off and i was able to take a ride in a few cars that actually handle. That plus the the addition of the S/C really made me regret my choice in suspensions. It is sad when a N/A LN2 out runs a boosted eco.

1. You are still the most immature person I have seen on here in a while. Nice childish insults dude. Really though!

2. Be helpful? You don't read the audio section do you? There are very very very very few (1 or 2) people with any knowledge that help as often as I do in there.

Nice try though noob.

I guess.

I'm with jlcavalier in this one, jfire you need to take awhile and read through the last 2 current pages of topics in audio, he more than helps out so stop acting like a 12 year old. Ohhh and fight nice kids. P.S. Bags are cool, although I'd rather put that money towards audio.
