Alright, not a professional yet, but I got some knowledge in me. I know how to wire it, but I don't know much about them. First off, I already got two 10" Pioneers, probably like 300W RMS each, underpowered with some offbrand 700W Peak amp, wired with 4 gauge. Anyways, I need to hit harder...way harder! I seriously won't be happy till you can hear me down the block, and then i'll probably get used to it and want louder, like everyone hahaha.
Ok, anyways, I want to know the difference between 4ohm and 2ohm. Like what's better, and how do they differ?
That's really the only actual question I had, now here comes the choices. I got about $500 maybe a little more to spend on subs, box, and amp, but what I want is like two 10" L5's and a Hifonics BXi 1208D. These both would match RMS at 900W at 2ohm, but there lies my question, 4 or 2, what's the difference and what's better?
What are some other options I have here? And this is what it's going into:
Trunk dimensions are 34"W by 19"H, could I possibly fit some 12's in there?
It's people like you who want everyone else to hear your damn music in the neighborhood, that give every audio enthusiast a bad image. Why can't everyone just worry about making THEIR OWN EARS happy?
ANYWAY, you clearly have some things to learn... An amp puts out power, subs take the power to do their job. Ohms are the measuring unit of resistant or impedance.
A sub that has 2ohm coils simply means the coils have 2 ohms of resistance. The relevance here is that an amp will be able to put out more power at a lower ohms load easier. And amp that puts out 900 watts at 1 ohms will be cheaper than one that does it at 4 ohms. Having a lower resistance simply makes it easier to put out more power.
SO, if you are looking at buying two subs and an amp, and if you have subs that are dual coiled like the Solo-Baric's, it would beneficial to your wallet to get 4 ohm coils. You can wire the pair down to a 1 ohm load. This lets you use a mono block amp that can put out plenty of power at 1ohm without breaking your budget.
Also, those Kickers aren't going to sound amazing sound quality wise, but that clearly isn't your goal.... Make sure to budget in having a properly built ported box made for them. You don't want to run those things sealed, especially if you plan to get as loud as possible.

Not so much the neighborhood hearing me, it's that I like the loud bass so damn much. And the amp is 900W RMS at 2 OHM and the subs are 450W RMS each, so 900W RMS total. They come in a box already, vented, made by kicker? idk
that's them though
well then you want the dual 2 ohm coils. Then you can wire the pair to present a 2 ohm load. I personally think Hifonics amps are too under rated and power hungry to shake a stick at, but at their prices, I guess I won't tell you to get something better if you don't want to spend too much.

How would that be achieved? I mean wiring the pair to present the 2 ohm load? And how would you wire it to the amp to present such load as well? Isn't it just a switch on the amp?
NOOOOO
Who the hell told you it was a switch on the amp??
The amp simply puts out a set amount of power. How much power gets put out depends on the load given to it. If you present a 10 ohm load the amp will not be working very hard, but will only put out a small fraction of the power it is capable of. If you present a half ohm load to an amp only stable down to 2 ohms it will work it's ass off and fry in no time. There is no switch. That makes no sense.
Here is how you wire them:

@!#$, sorry, I'm thinking about the channel switch, my amp has a channel switch and I crossed that with ohms.
Ok

Can you explain this to me in english? I'm sure if it was in front of me I would be able to understand better.
What I'm getting is on each sub, connect one VC (+/-) *inside the box or where?* and the other VC (+/+)(-/-) then to the amp.
Question?: How can you do this with the box though? This would be so easy with the box in front of me and everything, i'm a visual person and without that wiring diagrams make no dam sense to me whatsoever.
So the parts (+/+)(-/-) inside the box wire up to the connectors, from where the wire goes from connectors on the box straight to the amp?
I hope I didn't confuse you, I confused myself :/
haha. Alright, I understand needing to see it but I think you have the general understanding. Basically there are 2 sets of coils on each sub. a + and - on each side.
You run a wire from the + on one side to the - on the other on each sub. After that you run both remaining + into a female spade connector that will now connect to the + part of the terminal cup in the box. After that, do the same thing to the remaining - terminals, run them both into a female spade that will connect to the - post on the terminal cup.

so + to - wired to the same sub correct? Do that for both subs, then the two + from each sub to each other and the two - from each sub to each other to the terminal cup on the box, then of course from the cup the + and - to the correct spot on the amp. That's my understanding from the diagram.
Yes.

Thank you for dealing with me hahaha.
Another question. Got aftermarket speakers coming in, what's the wiring like for that? And will I need a separate amp for that? Or will the aftermarket deck be sufficient?
What after market speakers did you order ? Wireing will be easy if your fronts are already hooked up to the aftermarket deck.
And for the deck. What do you currently have to see if it will be sufficient for the new fronts you ordered ?
I ordered Blaupunkt GTx462 and Blaupunkt GTx693's
Blaupunkt GTx462: 2-35RMS
Blaupunkt GTx693: 2-55RMS
Panasonic CQ-VW100U: 18x4RMS
Do I really have to take my door off? HAHA
Speakers are just going to be two wires each, only issue you'll have is getting positive/negetive the right way around.
In the front, Darks are negetive (gray in the left door)
In the rear, Darks are positive (ie: dark blue + and light blue -)
I can't remember if blue or green is front or back, so just go off that rule I put two lines before this one.
The doors are as easy as undoing some screws and pulling OUT on the bottom and sides, and then sliding the door UP with some force.
If you have window cranks, you'll need to get a tool to take em off.
Would cutting out the speaker grill make it look stupid? Cause I thought seeing the speaker itself on the door would be pretty cool

Arent your ears happy at 140db? Mine are
No just a random number I pulled out of my ass. I cant find anyone to meter around here.
140 isn't enough honestly.
Im bored with what I have. I want to double what I have and strap my amps for 1800 watts and two 15s.
That's great buddy, but this thread isn't about you. Try not to get this guy's thread off his own topics.

dealercostcaraudio.com sucks at shipping their products in a timely manner. It's been over a week and they still haven't shipped it. I've contacted them and they say to just wait and they'll send it soon. DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM.
Should do some research before buying anything online. That site is all over the internet for being horrible and shady...

I got my amp yesterday and put it in today, I have to say this thing is so powerful used with my current speakers. I can't wait till I get my speakers. I'm getting a refund from the site and getting two 15" L7's from my friends brother...SO EXCITED!!!
