my battery died on my key fob and when i replaced the battery it won't work so does anybody know how to reprogram it or do i have to take it to a dealer? i have an 02 sunfire thanks in advance!
i think what you do is stand next to your car and hold both lock and unlock at the same time for several seconds.
i definitly think there's more to it than that lol, even though i did try it out no luck at all
if the battery in the fob died, you shoudnt need to reprogram it. the RF signal for that remote is stored in the BCM i think in those years and it should be fine if the battery in the fob is changed.
if you look in the library, you will find the instructions for reprogramming the fobs. because im a nice guy, i'll do the hard work for you

yes i do i might have to drop by his shop sometime =]
yeah im a gm tech and i just looked up the proceedure for programming. you do have to have a tech 2 so you can access the BCM and go into special functions to enter programming mode. i hate how nothing can be done without a dealer scan tool on cars these days. i'd love to go to an aftermarket shop so i can make some real money, but it's a whole different kind of work that i havnt done in a long time. mind numbing brake jobs and tires..... anyway, yeah you need a tech 2 like whitegoose said
