Well I am hoping to get a Sundown 1500d soon, but as of now i only have an amp that will accept 4 gauge. Is it possible to run a 1/0 gauge to a distribution block and go 4 gauge from there to the current amp? Or am I confused with what a distribution block does?
A distro block is meant, quite literally, to distribute power or ground connections to multiple sources (usually amps)...also most of the time they have a larger input than output gauge, too. As an example, the most common use for smaller distro blocks is one 4ga in and 2-3 8ga out. So yes, it will do what you want.
Awesome, thought I was right. Just didn't need to go waste more money. Just need to find a large enough one now.
Monster, RF, Tsunami, and Stinger make some nice ones...I'm partial to Monster personally cause of the way they look.
If that is the only amp you are going to run, There is no need for 1/0 at all, and running it back and then reducing it to 4ga isn't going to really be any gain on your part other than having way more expensive wire from your battery to the block.

what i meant, i am going to run the 1/0 gauge to a block, then go there to 4 gauge, FOR NOW. My amp only accepts 4 gauge as of now, and the amp I am looking towards needs 1/0. So i am going to use it for a temporary. I am saving up to get the sub and box yet. So I will get that amp eventually, but going to need to run my current amp.
well if you need 1/0 eventually, and only need 4 now, I would personally save some money (a 1/0 to 2X4 block isn't going to be cheap) and get a reducer. They actually make connectors to go on the end of 1/0 that fit into 4 gauge holes.

any link to find a reducer? This set up would only be for about 4-5 months anyway.
I can't decide, I already have a 12" cerwin Vega Vmax. I want another
OR
15" FI BL w/ 33hz ported box. eventually sundown 1500d also. Figure i would spend another 300 on the vmax and box, or spend 309 on the BL and get a box for about 100. Go for the FI?
If it were me, I would go with a Fi, but why not save money and be happy with what you got? lol

go big or go home, right? Do it once do it right. I just would like louder too heheh. Probably is loud, just me going deaf. oopsie.
haha well yeah might as well go all out and do it all right the first time... let me try and find a link to those reducer things. It would be a lot cheaper of a temp fix than a distribution block.
This is what I was talking about, but I can't find one to go from 1/0 to 4. Only 4 to 8.

see if you can possibly find one for 2 to 4 gauge. I'm interested in a JBL amp now, puts out 1600rms, but knowing it probably doesn't put THAT much out. I was thinking roughly, what, 1200rms?
What you need to do is figure what sub(s) you want, what kind of enclosure it or they are going to need, what kind of power they require to get their full potential, and how much you are willing to budget for the equipment. I'm sure me and others can give you more options. It seems like you find something you like the looks of and consider it... well gimme a budget and I am sure there are even more options out there that you never thought of.

As of now, I am on the SSA forums with them helping me, but I will take any help offered.
It would be a 15" FI BL fully loaded.
33hz Ported Box.
Sundown 1500d or the JBL amp
1/0 gauge for the sundown, or the JBL only accepts 2 gauge.
Budget is keeping it cheap as possible, but loud and good. I am just going to purchase as I get more money.
