does anyone know how to get a loc code out of the 2000 cavy stock stereo. I have the am/fm cd player version. All of the stuff in my car was just recently stolen so i was putting the stock radio back in for now and it says loc on the display. I really dont wanna bring it to the dealer because they charge a rediculous amount of money. can anyone help?
you have to bring it to the dealer. you need a tech2 to "flash" the radio.
that is the only option? there is nothing else i could do huh?
yep, the older radios had a code to unlock but the new ones are registered to the cars VIN and when you swich it out and it does not match it wont work.
WE need a sticky on this..... radios from 00-05 contact the BCM for the vin. if the vin's don't match it locks. the absolute only way to get it unlocked is for you to take it to a dealer.... if the dealer is nice they won't charge you for it considering it only takes about 5 minutes... However, it doesn't make sense that your original stereo is giving you a lock code....
exactly what i said. That is the original stereo that came with the car. I took it out like right when i bought the car and now im putting in back in like 5 years later and its says loc. Do you think if i called up the dealer and was like hey this is the original stereo for the car and give them the vin number they should be able to unlock it for me

Over the phone, NO.
If it is the original stereo then it should work.
If it does not work then you still have to pay, your car no longer has a warranty.
I have a 2000 with antitheft and will be putting it in my 99 sunfire over the weekend. I will do the swap quickly but if it does lock my friend used to work at GM and said he knows how to unlock it without a tech 2. I will let you guys know if I have trouble and need him to fix it for me.
Any 00+ J body factory stereo WILL NOT work in 95-99 J Bodies.
00+ Is an DATABUS style radio.
Will it plug in? Is it the same dimentions?? I know it has onstar but figure it just would be missing the plug for that and since I will not be using it I didn't think it would matter. Also it current scolls verizon.com across the screen is that for the onstar? Thanks

it wont plug in and its bigger than the 95-99 radios
"I did it because I wanted to see what it would look like. You should be greatful that I even told you that it would look good. If your to dumb to use photoshop and change the color of your own car then you don't need to see it changed. I'm not going to give my work away. I'll sell the pic to you though for $15."-Adam Kalin
^^JBO is about not being that guy
ok you guys are right. Sorry I like to find out the hard way. Radio's don't have same plugs and went to circuit coty to get a wire harness kit for the aftermarket radio and it's $100+ for the adaptor!! screw that. Keeping stock radio. Any recommend a good ipod controller for the factory radio in my 2000? I have an aux plug
You don't need to get that adaptor to relocate the radio unless you want to keep the stock door sounds. You just have to run a 12V wire to the harness and you are done.
Trust me I know. Read the sticky!
