Anyone Have Codes to unlock a 2000+ J Radio(that you type in)

Hi

I have the process on how to do it,But don't know if that 1-800 Number still works and don't want to install the factory radio and find out the number doesn't work and then have to pay $15-20 at the Dealer ship to get it unlocked

I want to ask does anyone have the Codes that they usually use for a 01 Cavy z24 when you call them up

I was told theres only about 6 numbers

thanks

The 2001+ head units have to be turned on at the dealership. Approx 50 bucks. That's how much I paid, I believe it was in 2005.

^ Yup. The Theftlock code only works on the 95-99 radios where you dial in the code. The BCM has to be re-flashed for the 00+ radios (on just about all GM cars). Even says so in your owner's manual

It actually says have your 6 digit code ready before you disconnect the Battery so you can unlock the radio

I might scan it in,to show I'm not lying

but I thought the BCM was the same from all years

It won't hurt to put it in and try and unlock it

Im going to see if I can get more info of this from the Dealer ship

Hmm... in my 2000 owner's manual it says:

Quote:

LOCKED: This message is displayed when the Theftlock system has locked up. You must return to the dealership for service.

THEFTLOCK is designed to discourage theft of your radio. The feature works automatically by learning a portion of the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). If the radio is moved to a different vehicle, it will not operate and LOCKED will be displayed.

The the radio and vehicle is turned off, the blinking red light indicates that THEFTLOCK is armed.

With THEFTLOCK activated, your radio will not operate if stolen.

That's from a 2000 Cavalier manual. Any 95-99 J-car manual should mention the code... because you could program a Theftlock code yourself. All 00-05 J-cars need a Tech 2 diagnostic tool to re-learn the BCM and radio combo. Scan tool will not work, sorry.

95-99 cars do not even have a BCM...

1. Turn Key on
2. Hold down preset 2 and 3 to recieve first 3 digits
3. Hold down am/fm button to recieve last 3 digits
4. Call 800-537-5140
5. Enter 219444#
6. Enter the 6 digit code from the radio (step 2 and 3)
7. Will give you either 3 or 4 digit code to unlock radio, use HR and MN buttons to input code.
8. SEC will appear on radio meaning it is unlocked and ready to play. If INOP shows you input wrong code.
