I just installed an aftermarker CD player, i used a regular wire harness because i didnt care about losing all the chimes and crap. I ran the ign to a fuse and the cd player wont shut off now. I read the FAQ and found out i have to put it to the ign wire or whatever so i am going to do that tommorow. I got to work 2 night, and turned the radio off. After about 30 minutes of being here, my alarm decided to go off. I do armed security, so i kinda freaked and thought maybe someone was pissed at me or something, but when i got out there, no one was around, and my car is right outside the door, no time for someone to get away. I shut off the alarm, and armed it again (its a factory alarm by the way) then about 30 minutes later, it went off again, and still, no one was around. I know the alarm is only supposed to go of if someone is in the vehicle when armed anyway, so i knew that wasnt the case. Does this have any thing to do with the CD player? or did i maybe mess something up when i had the dash off? Please help, i cant take the alarm going off every 30 minutes anymore.
I just went to patrol in my car, and i realized the right half of my speedo is real dull, and so are some of the other gauges. Also, when I try to start the car, it idles real low for a second, like its about to die, then goes to 900 rpm and stays there, i think something really got messed up. I am going to put the stock cd player back in tommorow and pray that it fixes the problem. Maybe in a few months i might get the module thing that keeps everything the way its supposed to, oh well, i might just keep a stock audio system in there, i dont like all the problems trying to put an aftermarket HU creates, its just not worth it to me.
your after market cd player is not the problem.....the reason you lost some dash lights was because when you took off the dash it messed up the bulb...common problem if your not gentle when removing the dash. Most likely that alarm is not factory just and after market made to work with your factory keyless entry.... so maybe thats gone bad....how long have you had the car? did you leave your interior light on? depending on how the alarm was hooked up that might make it go off
I believe you've mistakenly attached a wire to the gray wire in the factory harness. Take it off, and it should work normally
?? im curious john....what wire is that?
Pin B4 - circuit 8, the panel dimming input for the dash lights. A lot of people hook up this wire to their dimmer circuit, and it screws up the interior lights and alarm circuit, because it goes right to the BCM. The poor car thinks you've opened the door and turned on the interior light somehow, because it's not seeing the right signal from the aftermarket deck.
Not to be confused with the other gray wire, Pin A9 which is the left front negative speaker connection.
I am positive that i hooked up that gray wire, i hooked up all the wires i could. I will take the dash back off tommorow. There was a weird contraption under the dash when i took it off that i had never seen before, it was a little black box, and had a ton of wires running from it, one which led to another little box that said this side up. I will see if i can get the digi cam working and take a pic to post, that way yous guys can see what it is. I have had the car now for about 3 months, and nope, didnt leave the interior lights on. Is there a way to fix the bulb, or do i need a new one, the dullness is making me nuts! I really appreciate your help guys, like i said, i will try to get those pics real soon for yous.
