sound coming through subs

When I hit the gas, I can hear my engine rev. It is not the rca's crossd over the power, and it is not the ground. When I turn my engine off, my subs continue to bump at a very low volume. But when I wiggle the remote wire, it will stop. The pwer light stays on constant when I turn my car off, and I dont know why! I do have my head-unit hooked up directly to the battery so I can turn it on and off manually opposed to the ignition. I wonder if this has somenthing to do with my amp staying on? Someone PLEASE HELP!

it's likely the RCAs themselves.

what brand of deck are you using. I have the same problem....just an engine whine. Pioneers are famous for engine noise in the subwoofers and speakers. Ground out the Rca's. Wrap some bare wire around each of the rca jacks on the back of the deck.

turn off your radio, your amp should turn off unless your remote is not hooked up to the radio. If you wiggle the remote and it turns off then it may be touching the power wire...

Illdwes, you were right about the remote and power touching, that past of my problem is fixed. And Andy, how do I ground out the rca's? Are you talking about doing something like taping the bare metal places on the rca's?? I didnt understand what had typed earlier. An I have a Jensen deck. Cheap, but I am pretty satisfied with it. Have you heard much about them letting engine noise bleed throguh the system?

yup thats the post i have been looking for. I still have the noise, it is just when i feel like getting the deck out again to ground it. I will do it eventually when I am motivated. Hopefully it works!

double check your grounds 3 more times. get a new set of rca's and try that. if that doesnt work, your outputs on the head unit could be bad. i have seen it once or twice. it sucks to spend money on a new deck, but it happens.

Thanks for the info on grouning the rca's! I decided to try it out while I already had my dash out today, and it solved all my problems! This site is the best!

speaker wire with the insulation stripped off, basically any wire that conducts electricity well

awesome it worked, just had to have some tedious work to get the wires to stay snug. But, anyone with any engine noise should try doing this before wasting a bunch of money like i did!
