Help Please.
Tuesday, June 03, 2008 4:44 PM
Hello, I was just wondering what the best way to get loud in a 2001 sunfire 4dr. I have two subs pointed to the rear of the car right now. Would it be louder to the ear if I point them into the cabin and seal the trunk off?

get 2 pair of pliers, with one pair crush a testicle and with the other grasp and pull off a toenail.

that should get you loud with crisp highs

Lmao ^ ^

The subs will sound louder if you face them INTO the car... if it's a ported box that is... and maybe fold down your seat for more noise

^^^^sndsgood will probably come in here and tell you that your wrong.
its really a matter of taste but generally subs sound best pointed toward the trunklid, unless your trunk is completely off from the cabin, in which case you would want the sub firing into the cabin.

"I did it because I wanted to see what it would look like. You should be greatful that I even told you that it would look good. If your to dumb to use photoshop and change the color of your own car then you don't need to see it changed. I'm not going to give my work away. I'll sell the pic to you though for $15."-Adam Kalin

I switched my subs around today but now I hear a buzzing sort of sound. Like you hear a different buzzing sound when you accelerate.

Makes quite a bit of difference

But another good way to make it loud is to amp your speakers.

I have my speakers amped right now. I just want to improve the bass. Just to make that louder.

thats buzzing sound is called an alt. nosie and you have to ground the alt. Or if you have a pioneer deck they have bad intreal grounds and need to ground out the outer rca sheilds and that will fix your problem. nosie supressors dont realy work too well

Ok the sound went away again. Don't even hear that sound anymore and all I did was take out the rcas from under the amp and moved them over a bit. There cheap rcas to begin with though. I have good rcas for my subs.

ok if you want to hear your bass more & have a back seat that lays down then face the subs into the cab of the car & fold your back seat down so the subs are pointing into the cabin & then BAM you will hear it more...

that would be the simplest easiest way to fix it.... & oh yeah keep those RCA's out from under the amp, electronically it will cause that interference you heard until you moved the RCA's over

I did move the subs the other day and pointed them to the cabin like you said and had the seat down. But it wasn't as loud as pointed to the rear, so I'm just going to keep them pointed to the rear. And I don't have interference anymore and my rcas are under my amp. The sound just went away.

its because the trunk tends to act as another "box" of sorts, reflecting the bass back at you. really, like everyone said, its a personal preference what you point where. myself with a 4th order bandpass, i find the bass is felt more when the sub is on the drivers side and the port faces the trunk. i have yet to confirm with my SPL meter if anything actually makes a difference. might do that this week since theres a SPL competition coming up locally.
