ok im upgrading my amp...again...and i was wondering everyones thoughts...i was gonna get the kicker 1000.1 or the fosgate 1000.1...any opinions...the only reason i was leaning toward the kicker is because its cea-2006 compilant....

i seen the fosgate 1000.1 in action with subs wired to 1 ohm and f-cking WOW...that thing is a beast......and most of the birth sheets i seen on em show at least 1250 watts...haven't heard the kicker so......the fosgate is a good amp tho....

1250 @ 14.4 volts probably, and they're only 2 ohm stable amps if memory serves me correctly.

the fosgate will give more power on the birth cer. than kicker mostley and also the kicker amps only go down to two ohms when the fosgate can go to one ohm so it depends on that subs and how many

I have the kicker ZX1000.1 Wired at 400 ohms, with my single 10" sub at about 550 Watts.

The birth sheet told me the amp is rated at about 1086 Watts..

Wired at 4 Ohms*

lanman the fosgate is 1 ohm stable i think the kicker is 2 ohm stable, so it depends on your setup.......im sure both amps are good. BTW all amps are rated at 14.4 volts which im sure yo know, as most people into car audio should know, so that was stating the obvious.

yeh ive noticed this when i hooked up systems in the past^^....i got antsy lol i bought the kicker....ill let ya kno what i think.....is their any way to get some of the unused wattage that you would have if it were 1 ohm stable

how can this be true?
# RMS Power Output
4 ohms: 500 watts x 1
2 ohms: 1000 watts x 1
# Peak Power Output
4 ohms: 1000 watts x 1
2 ohms: 2000 watts x 1

how can i get 2000 watts out of a mono channel 1000watt amp?

ok most if not all amps are nominally rated using 4 OHMS but when they can push signal out to a 2 OHM source not only do they encourage it, but the output DOUBLES due to a lower OHM resistance meaning power can flow more freely.

thats why every 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , & 5 ch amp out there always give you a 4OHM rating and a 2 OHM rating... most normal everyday get a bestbuy to do the install people don't know 4 from 2 ohm or what speakers work bettter so they only pay attention to the 4 OHM listing on products, & what the best buy salesman feeds them from his scripted sales pitch & then there are those that pay attention... LIKE US, & we go for the better more power thing like getting a DVC sub over a SVC sub for future expandability. & then an amp that has a alot of power & then twice that power at 2 OHM

& thats how you can get a 1000 watt (rated at 4 OHMS) amp to put out 2000 watts when pushing into a 2 OHM setup....

make sure you have subs that can be wired for 2 ohm & when your amp is connected to a 2 ohm sub it'll push out 2 ohm power...

Lanman or whomever, please correct me if i stated that wrong..
