all jbodies from 2000-2005 are double din ... and so was my 2003 sonoma ... an im sure all gm are now double din also .. .

but your buddies radio looks to have molding that newer cars tend to have around the radio,... im gonna guess it wont fit in your jbody without major work

ok yea .. i did some more research .. other then the radio not fitting the wiring is also not the same as most GMs ... of course me know why. but heres how the radio plugs in on the GTOs .. the harness is completely different from regular GM and jbodies.
so there will be alot of rewiring and splicing .

you could probably wire it up, the harnesses will be different tho. and if its like most other gm radios, you'd have to get it coded to your car. also not sure if it is a factory ampilfied system?
mounting it in the car would be a bit of fabbing up, as if you look at the radio, it uses euro style clips to hold it in to the dash (those little holes are the clip release access points)

I personally wouldnt bother, but if you feel like trying it, then give'r.

hahah good job .... yea to much work to get it to work .. not only do you have to get it vin programmed .. but its just to much of a wiring hassel and getting it to fit ... if you want oem look into the double din radios from hummers denali n escalades.. or even pioneer and kenwood double din radios.

well to make life a little easier the harness it uses is a standard VW harness (the lower 2 plugs) the top plug may be for a factory amp, cant really remember. check on the deck, sometimes it has a pin out diagram on the top or bottom. also that mounting cage looks like it comes out and could be reused. it'd be alot of work, IMO just go get an aftermarket deck and be done with it.

you'll need the security code for the head unit if you get it working in your car man.

talk to Eric though. he might be able to help you out.

help out with the install or the code....the unit is outta my bros 2006, so i can prove its not stolen or anything...

the install.

the security code should be on a plastic card in the owner's manual. if not, you'll have to take the VIN to the dealership to get it. once you disconnect the unit from the car, and then re-apply power, it's going to go into lock mode. you'll have to enter the security code to unlock it.

btw... the GTO's do have an amp/sub combo in the trunk. I'm unsure if it uses the GM serial data bus, but I'm going to say that it does.

you should look into getting a dual din from pretty much any other post 2000 gm. the gto a)has a larger than double din faceplate and b) uses a different harness.

If your to dumb to use photoshop and change the color of your own car then you don't need to see it changed. I'm not going to give my work away. I'll sell the pic to you though for $15."-Adam Kalin

soi any dd from Gm will plug right in? just need to get the code?

yeah, pretty much any GM will plug in. and I know they do have multi-disc changers out there. the issue is if they have a stock subwoofer installed in the vehicle the head unit came out of. it might change your wiring up a bit. just find the forum related to the vehicle the head unit came out of, and I'm sure someone can answer your questions.

the stock GM (non-GTO Blaupunkt versions) will need to be taken to a dealership to be unlocked.
