Radio install problems

Ok, so I finally got around to putting my system into the Cavalier. Head unit has been in 3 different cars. Subs and amp have as well.

Anyways, I got the dash kit in and mounting cage into the kit. Wired the harness up and went to install. Ran my RCA's as well.

When I plug the harnesses in and go to slide the HU back, I run out of room before the side clips engage. What gives? I'm going to check to see if it's my RCA's.

In the meantime, I have to order a new harness to my radio and some speaker wire. Oh, and a new mounting cage...

Thanks in advance. I tried searching but I suck at it so

i see you got an 03, i have an 04 and i did it with out cutting anything or using a spacer.....its VERY tight but you have to move the wires as far away from the back of the radio as possible...the way i do it is tuck the wires to one side as far as possible, slowly slide the radio in to make sure it almost closes but cant quite push it in. Pull it out a little bit and push it in fast....usually works. I know its kinda rough but.....if you dont wanna do it it will fit as long as you finesse the wires....worse comes to worse use the spacer or cut the back out......

I had to cut out excess plastic in the upper half of behind the radio to fit a single din flush in my dash, and i had cut out all remaining excess plastic and heat and mold the air box to clear my rcas for my double din to sit flush.

Yeah. I ended up just removing the lower pocket. the head unit itself fits. now the wiring has a place to go. Is there anything behind the back plastic I should watch for?

I need a new harness that plugs into the stereo. Not a adapter. Mine is messed up. Otherwise I'll have to grab a new HU.

You can get the head unit harness here.

"I did it because I wanted to see what it would look like. You should be greatful that I even told you that it would look good. If your to dumb to use photoshop and change the color of your own car then you don't need to see it changed. I'm not going to give my work away. I'll sell the pic to you though for $15."-Adam Kalin

I just bought a Pioneer DEH-4900IB off eBay for $100 shipped. Good deal. Going to get that harness too and sell my Kenwood for $150.
