This is my first post on these forums about my 300 so take it easy on me. I am starting my 3rd fiberglass enclosure, the first one we made was for my brothers Cavalier (Z2FST4U), second one was for my Cavalier. About a year ago I sold my cavalier and upgraded to the 300! Time for some I.C.E.!
We'll start off with pictures of the car it's going into! I apologize for the sh*tty pictures, they were taken with my phone. I promise when the enclosure is done I will take some high resolution pictures!
Current Mod List:
-24" TIS 08 Wheels
-275/25/24 Wanli Ruberbands
-Pioneer AVIC-D3
-Pioneer AVIC-Bluetooth Unit
-Pioneer AVIC-iPod Unit
-Fiberglassed Dash Bezel for Head Unit
-Reverse Camera
-5%/35% Window Tint
-Chrome Mesh Grill
Audio Going In:
-(2) 12" Kicker L7's Subwoofers (Dual-VC / 4-Ohm)
-(1) Kicker KX1200.1 Amp
So on to the pictures!
DAY 1
Cardboard mock-up piece for template
Cutting a side panel
Wood panels cut and placed in car
Just a different angle
Wheelwell, this will be glassed later
Securing panels with L brackets
L brackets all mounted, sanding edges to remove sharp corners and make panels perfectly flush
Cutting and Sanding Subwoofer Rings
Then we drilled holes and slid in some wood dowels that help mirror the locations of the subs. They will be fiberglassed in place and used for support to stretch the fleece for the initial shape of the enclosure. Here are some pictures of the rings in place.
Another angle
DAY 2
Getting ready to glass the wheel wells.
Here's a little teaser of what it will look like. We just stretched the fleece quickly, you can tell the rings are a little off, I will get them a little more even before we actually glass it!
DAY 3
Laid down tin foil to protect the carpet from drips...you never know! This is the fleece with resin applied. No fiberglass mat yet. The triangle piece in front is a cardboard box I used to secure the enclosure so it doesn't shift.
Heres a closer (and blurrier) look at the wheel well.
DAY 4
4 layers of fiberglass down! It's ready to be pulled out of the car!
I also installed my rear view camera today - hooked to my AVID-D3! I will post pictures later today. Post your thoughts, it keeps me motivated.

Baller!!!!
Box looks tits
Nice work man,we made a box similar to the design you have at the shop i work at except it was for a jl w7,nice to see you taking the time to do things correctly, ive seen so many hack job fiberglass boxes that leak air and do nothing for the sq or spl of the subs, are you going to give each sub an individual chamber?? Those l7's move alotta air...keep it up looks great!
Thanks everyone! The enclosure will be two separate champers. Cutting the divider was a pain in the a$$ because I didn't want it to add any additional contours in the shape of the enclosure so it had to be the exact shape as the fabric when it is stretch. It was a lot of trial and error! Last night I got all of the corners glassed to seal it all up. Saturday I will be sanding the inside of the enclosure and attaching the dowels and starting on the fun part of the enclosure!

Wow nice wok going on there.
Looks cool!

Damn Nate, been forever... The 300 is lookin BEAUTIFUL.. Can't wait to see the finished product.
So is that what the hole in the bottom is for? To make it easier to fiberglass the inside so there is minimal imperfections to fix on the outside? I have been out of car audio a long time now... like 4 years.
Running Kicker L7s?
wow 275/25/24.... i have 35's on my 19's and i feel everything on the road i can only imagine what 25's are like

Running Kicker L7s?
Exactly!
All of the glassing is being done from the inside. I got two good layers down tonight. I will probably be done glassing tomorrow night. Then all I have left is to slap some filler on it sand a little, and shes ready for paint!

It's not too bad. The suspension on it is amazing. I was impressed. I had 30s on my 20" limited on my cavalier and air ride and it I felt every bump too, as you could imagine. lol.
Sometimes I wish I had more tire though. I'ved busted one wheel already. Luckily insurance covered it.
As far as progress I'll have more pics tomorrow night!

Wow looks great. Cant wait to see it done and painted black

I am looking for a local shop that can paint it chrome. Otherwise I will be shipping it to Miami to get it done (not cheap)
-Nate (ZeeTwankyFo)
A body shop should be able to paint it... your just gunna have a hard time finding paint. House of Kolorz have a chrome paint?
You've inspired me to do a fiberglass box for my cobalt now, but I have no audio equipment. lol. I left the audio game when someone stole my L5s (Tells you how long it's been). 2 10" kicker L5's in a 3cu ft boox tuned to 28 hz.. Broke the bumper support off the back bumper it was so loud. I miss it, but I don't.
Box looks good so far... lets see some progress pics!
Did you recess the mounting of the subs then? That's probably the only thing i see that I don't care for is that I don't think they're recessed.
True chrome paint is a 4 stage process (sometimes 5) and very few shops actually do it. It's a new technology that I think AlsaCorp created, but there are other companies that make similiar equipment that works just as good if not better. The shop in Miami promises a mirror finish, which AlsaCorps paint can't really match, but either one would look sick, lol.
As far as recessing the subs, they will be inverted which is the reason I didn't do that. I think I am going to tune to 35hz but I need to call Kicker and see what they suggest.
Thanks for the feedback guys! It keeps me motivated, but I am getting really close to being done. I decided to take a day off today tho. My appartment was getting messy and I had to do other chores. I will post more pics when I get some.

very nice looking box!!AVID-D3
Dude screw your apartment haha. Im workin on a fiberglass box myself. its at the filler stage, im just to lazy to sand so ive been puttin it off lol. Do you sand it all by hand or do u use a DA? I need u to post more pics to motivate me!
Hamburger Helper..One Pound, One Pan, One Disfunctional Family!
This time around I am hoping to do it all by sand to keep all of the natural shape. It should need very little sanding (fingers crossed) since I am doing all of the glass from the inside. I got two more layers down last night on the entire box. It's about 1/4" thick now. Maybe a little thicker. I will probably build it up to about 4-5 layers or 3/8" and then I will be soaking some nylon rope in resin and building a skeleton with it. I've seen it done and it works awesome. The box will be strong as hell!
I took some more pictures last night. Enjoy!
Inside the box, sub ring and divider board. Dowels trimmed off.
A picture from the bottom opening.
Inside the box, the board at the top is the divider board.
Trimmed up and looking pretty.
