I went and had my amp and sub installed at ABC the other day, and stil have engine noise through my speakers. I figured they could have fixed it, but iguess not. Next thing i could think of is my aftermarket plugs and wires throwing off electrical frequencys to my power wires.....any one know what i can do to solve me engine noise problem!!!??
they probable ran the rca and power wires to the amp on the same side of the car, and right next to each other. so what you would have to do is move your rca wire to the other side of the car
"I did it because I wanted to see what it would look like. You should be greatful that I even told you that it would look good. If your to dumb to use photoshop and change the color of your own car then you don't need to see it changed. I'm not going to give my work away. I'll sell the pic to you though for $15."-Adam Kalin
^^JBO is about not being that guy
make sure your amp grounds are good..if in doubt, move them

You said "still" have engine noise. What was hooked up before?
Is it a whining noise that gets louder when you hit the gas? If so, the whine is called alternator whine. It is very common and hard to fix. Ground loop isolators are basically a band-aid. I would try regrounding your cd player and amp. For the cd player, change it from the stock ground wire in the harness and run it to bare metal and securely bolt it down. For the amp, choose a different location (not the seatbelt bolts - haven't had luck there), and make sure it is bare metal. Your ground should have a quality terminal on the end of the wire and be bolted down securely. We always solder our terminals that were crimped at the end of the wire. This may get rid of your noise.
Is it a popping noise when you turn your key on and off? Is it a buzzing noise that is the same all the time?
Most problems are caused by your power connections. Typically improving the ground will fix the noise problem. If your amp is just running subs, then it doesn't matter that the rca cables run the same side as the power wires, most noises are reproduced above the subwoofers playable frequency.

As Mennitti noticed, you said "still." Is this something that was there before you took the car to them?
If so, then they wouldn't have taken the time to troubleshoot it unless you had indicated you wanted them to find it in the first place.
If it's something new, I'd take the car back to them and have them go through it to find the noise and fix it right. New stuff shouldn't be making noise unless it was installed wrong.
If you want to tackle it yourself, Mennitti has given you a good place to start. There's also the rec.audio.car faq that you can use, of which I've given you the electrical section right here:

Take your pick, and determine how deep you're willing to go on your own, or how much you want to spend on finding it, then dive in!
What kind of CD player do you have?
Yea, Pioneers have issues with making all sorts of noise...

i dont think ive ever had a problem with pioneer.
You lucky boy
Pioneers have fused grounds on their RCAs. If you plug or unplug RCAs while the unit is on you run the chance of blowing the grounds and earning a nearly incurable ground loop.
If this is the case, there is a cure. Just wrap bare wire around all of the RCA grounds and ground that wire to the case.
^ will that void warranty?
Nope. I'm 100% sure it will not. The screws that you loosen have no effect on warranty and if you ever needed to send it in, you would just remove the wire.
Funny...the only time I've had any problem with a Pioneer was in those vehicles where they were prone to being noisy in the first place. When following good installation practices, though, the noise
usually went away. That doesn't mean that there aren't exceptions, though.
I just had to do the same exact thing to my pioneer, darn RCAs! Spent hours troubleshooting, rerunning grounds, remote turn ons, direct RCA leads (bypassing my EQ), power wires, you name it, all kept coming back to either the HU picking up noise, or producing it, and everything else amping the signal into ear splitting high-pitchness (that a word?....) So, in a last ditch effort I wedged a chunk of bare 12 gauge against the RCAs and the metal surrounding them, bam, noise goes away.
*runs around in glee
If it's an pionner, that'd be the first thing I'd recommend to ANYONE with noise to check, save yourself all the time doing other tests, when a chunk of wire could fix your ills
yeeeeeeeep, so i wasted my money on all this trouble shooting damn. I have a pioneer deck....... I know the ground is good, on the amp, but no idea on my radio deck....just such a pain in the ass to tear apart the dash every time.
You know you can just use the keys to remove the deck without tearing the entire dash apart...
not on mine, it is set too far back it seems and the faceplate edge won't pop out cuz it is behind the bezel a little bit.
Ah, well that's no fun...
ok i had the power acoustik ptid 4006t in my car for just over a year now worked fine i just sold the deck as i got the new power acoustik 7inch touch screen PTID 8960 well when we installed it we are now getting a really bad humm out of the sub amp it wasnt there when i had my old deck installed but now with the new deck its there and really bad so im gonna try to run power wire to battery from head unit and try grounding the hu to the chassis see if that helps but any other suggesstions for me ? it only started doing it when we put this new deck in and plugged in the sub rcas to the new deck checked all wiring from deck back its not that nor the amp so i dont know what it could be
