If it weren't for the fact that the radio works when the car is only in accessory, I would say it was a cold solder joint in the radio itself. Try this. Pull the head unit, and wire the red wire of the radio harness to the yellow wire of the same radio harness. Not the other way around. That ought to power the radio, however, it wont' turn it off when you shut off the car, so you'll have to remember that yourself. If it still doesn't work, um, I dunno.

No, its works just fine, when its above 32 out. no problem at all. Its when its really cold out. at first it won't work, but only in accessory. go drive a few miles let the car get warm, stop, turn the car off, then start the car back it comes right on like nothing was wrong.

sounds like you need a new radio.....unless you can deal with it, i live in nyc and its way colder than 30F right now with no problems..... But then again i bring my face home and i remote start my car every day.....
YA considering the power to an aftermarket is independent of the car's temperature, it's probably your deck. Unless for some reason the line to turn it on is... but i doubt it.

So, when it's cold, the radio works with the engine turned off, but when you start the car, and it's cold, the radio doesn't work?
I'm confused. You're telling me that if it was 27 degrees, the radio works fine until you start the car, and then the radio doesn't work, but when you turn on the heat, AND it warms up, the radio works again?
Check your wiring. Get a volt meter, and test your red, yellow, and black, all in accessory in the cold, and start the car in the cold, then warm the car in the cold. Something is not right, or you don't have all of the symptoms yet. Don't replace that radio just yet,
Did you make sure that your radio fuse isn't loose?
Right, when its realy cold, and right, when the car warms up. turn the car off and start it up, it works fine. and thats a dam good idea, didn't think about the fuse.

I have seen this problem before with a scotch-lock. I guess the cold makes it shrink up enough that there is not good contact, and when it warms up something expands just enough to get current. You are going to have to pull out the radio no matter what to get a look at what is going on. If you have big ugly plastic things connecting your wires, then take them off one at a time and solder your wires back together.

find your power wire, get a 5 dollar electrical tester and see if power is coming through on a cold start.
this will tell you right off the bat where to start , the HU, or the crappy stock wiring.
Did you find out what was wrong?
