so can i not hook the positive and negative wires of a LED strip to the positve and negative wires of the speakers and they work and turn off with the speakers?

not sure why you started a new thread, but...

When you go and hook up the LED strips to your speaker, you will throw off the ohm load for that particular channel and one of 2 things will happen:

1) you will blow your HU since you will be running these in parallel.
2) Sound quality would be impacted.

Please take my advice in your other thread and run them to a switched source. You can tap off the stereo harness (power wires only).

It depends on a few things.

1. Any inline resistors in the strip. The strip is made to work at 12v and will probably either burn out or not light up at voltages far from that. That means a hard bass hit could fry them.

2. Reverse voltage breakdown. Your LED strip will tolerate a certain amount of reverse voltage (since audio is AC). Much more than that and you will fry the strip.

The impedance of the LED strip is probably over 100 ohms which means your amp won't even know it's there. It has the potential to affect sound quality because it's not a purely resistive load, but on a sub, you'd never notice.

So I'm guessing not to a sub

so what your looking for is a led to turn on with your music Correct ???

i seen these led Tubes @ canadian Tire that are sound sensitive ...
its a little box that you can also change the sensitivity level .......
so if its allyour looking for ... this should work for you .... mount the unit under the dash sumwhere ....
solder the led strip's +'s and -'s to the little unit's wires and find an ignition + source .....and a ground source
and your good to go ...

i mean i seen some dual car speakers at walmart that had blue neons in them and i was wandering if i would do that with some stock speakers and LED strips

That company did the R&D to make sure the LED's didn't interfere.

Since you are taking another brand and introducing something around which it was not designed, there will be an issue. Be it immediate or otherwise, there will be a problem.

Really though, you are going to have the door panel out, just chase the wire through the rubber boot to a safe power source. It will achieve the same effect and have less problems.
